Obviously all these Leagues Salary Caps are working. Can’t believe the money being offered in Cairns League. AFL obviously don’t care or have resources to keep these in check as problem Australia wide.

I think points increases is the way they are looking at haulting the FIFO movement SM. Salary Caps seem far too hard to monitor. I’m hearing 8-10 points per FIFO player which will stop 4 or 5 going to the same club is what AFL Vic and AFLQ are discussing. Not sure on the Cairns comp but those 4 clubs that are owned by Cazalys(AFL) and run like a 7 day a week sports club spend plenty. Some have spent over 100k on a senior coach!!!

That coach would surely be doing other things to earn that money at a 3 point comp.

No not much happening Stuyd just waiting for practise matches which are just around the corner. Our Mens teams play the Lions Academy and Caloundra on the 7th and Redlands on the 14th, both at home. And agree Dusty’s signature to play at Yarra enormous( hearing it not over the line yet) and will have thousands flocking to his games👍

Some mouthwatering games in round 1.
The 2 big recruiters Morningside v Palm Beach, the GF replay with Redlands v Surfers, Maroochydore hosting Aspley (remembering Aspley copped a toweling up their last year), Noosa hosting Coorparoo (who beat the Tigers up there last time) & the Vulture looking to break their 1000 day drought.

Not sure Aspley junior base is that strong is it?

Would thing Grange and Sherwood significantly stronger and alongside Morningside those 3 would be the strongest junior bases in Brisbane in terms of quality.
650 juniors, 6 x under 13s teams, 4 x under 15s teams and colts coming off a GF

Not that strong he reckons 🤭

Top 3 in Brisbane. Comfortably

It’s ridiculous the league has let a club get so big. It’s affecting clubs around them. All these teams they have and yet they are only competitive in lower divisions. Didn’t even have division 1 in some age groups…

Destination club - best licensed club in the league by far - also very inclusive- we will take anyone, unlike Morningside and Grange who claim to be “full” but will always take a highly touted junior prospect on

They close their registrations unlike you lot. Keep up the good work though. Aspley can play Aspley every week wouldn’t that be wonderful.

A licensed club is really important when I’m choosing where my child plays junior and youth Footy. Nothing like palming the kids off to the coach while I sit in the sports bar betting on the dish lickers while some poor sod babysits the ratbags for an hour - that’s a destination club!

Rugby league have a great policy of capping registrations of players who come from other clubs. E.g 3 per year, per age group.

I don’t think it’s in the best interest of footy to have clubs with 5 teams per age group. Unless they all live in close postcodes of course..

Yeah I’ve seen that. Aflq need to follow suit and stop the player movement. Having 6 youth teams in one age group is ridiculous.

Mate it’s interesting that when someone mentions a licensed club with good facilities your mind immediately jumps to parents ditching their kids in the sports bar while someone else babysits them. Most normal parents manage to watch their kids play footy, support the club and maybe enjoy a beer afterwards without civilisation collapsing. The licensed club exists because it funds the footy program, the facilities and the junior development that kids actually benefit from. If the first scenario you picture is parents palming kids off so they can gamble, that probably says more about your own approach to parenting than it does about the club. Some clubs run on folding chairs and sausage sizzles — good luck to them. Others invest in proper facilities and strong support for junior footy. The Hornets seem to be doing alright with that model. - Father of the year right here folks
