To be fair it’s not the first time that keays has demonstratively called for the footy. It’s in his wheelhouse to push so hard and look for that easy one and lose his shit when he doesn’t get fed it.

You’d love thilthorpe to just kick that and tell him to get ****ed

Bingo.

Keays in that situation should've been yelling at Reilly to go for it, not screaming for the footy.

Bonds selection had a bit of Andy Otten 2017 about it

Had planted well and done his job when needed but instead of making a tough call as dropping a player on that situation despite the team structure demanding it we backed in the player based on what had gone not what we needed now
Except unlike Andy he played quite well, certainly a whole lot more composed than plenty of our way more experienced players,.

Probably best that Nicks doesn’t follow Mick Malthouse’s old theory that if you didn’t play well in finals you should be moved on… as half the team would be sacked.

Keays, Fogarty, Peatling and Hinge as senior players should be utterly appalled with their performance.

Fogarty’s game reminded me of Modra’s last game for the club in the 1998 Qualifying Final against Melbourne when Blight played him at half back & humiliated him in his last 10 minutes in a Crows guernsey then sacked him.

Not Keays only mistake. Also took a greedy shot from 50 that didn't make the distance and took a shot off ROB (who was honestly more likely to kick it) in the pocket then missed

He is only good if he plays within his limitations

I hate to say it, but TT cost us big time.

Cost us 2 goals directly on the half back line and missed another hand balling to Keays.

He is the player I was angriest the most about his effort. Several times the ball was kicked where he had to back back into the pack and use his height. I counted at least 3 times, he either stood on the spot and just feigned this half arsed jump or he ran forward deliberately to avoid contact. He is great 1 on 1, great in a pack when he can run and jump at it or run forward, but it really does make his defense suspect if he is literally unwilling to put his body on the line.

For a team of elder statesmen, i can't recall once all night us going from inside defensive 50 coast to coast we were under pressure every time we got the ball. Collingwood did not let up all night.

They also did exactly what they did 3 weeks ago in the 1st quarter..chip it and go shallow inside 50 and not bomb it and we couldn't get near them.

As for players, pedlar was very goid value up forward and tex on another night would have had 4 or 5 goals. Worrell is just a top drawer player. Curtin too didn't disgrace himself in a final, was good. But outside of them most were down.

Bad: having to turn to laird in the middle because our mids were well beaten.

Ugly: nicks having no answer to the collingwood set up at stoppages where they just got every loose ball and had field position almost all night.

We badly need to win this semi final so as to not go out in straight sets and a prelim is the bare minimum now. Sort it nicks and don't let yourself get out coached again

Not helped by doing things like drafting mids like Charlie Edwards, turning them into back flankers and then saying we have no spots to play him.
Hamish wouldn’t know a mid if he fell over one. Truly spectacularly terrible record of drafting mids. He’s been in the job for a decade and hasn’t drafted a single a grade mid from god knows how many picks.

Or maybe it’s a development problem? Or both?

Almost every Pies player got booed, Quaynor wasn't alone.

Quaynor was clearly booed more than others.

The other players that got booed consistently were:

Houston - knocked out Rankine
Frampton - used to play for us
Cox - because he’s the arrogant American and people hate that

Quaynor - ask yourself why?

Seriously if you were one of the people who chose to boo him have a good hard look at yourself.

We've all seen how we've developed Jones and now Draper

Not at all convinced it's a drafting issue

Well I was hoping for a win but a loss like this was also a possibility. Basically an experienced side and finals experienced coach against a young side and rookie finals coach.

I believe first finals is an excuse for players, but not for coaches.

Nicks is a tactically mediocre coach, at best, regardless of whether it is minor or major round.
