Pumas well beaten by a good Mayne side and cannot detract from the win from their perspective. Mayne probably not at absolute full strength either. However FRIIS and MURCUTT both in Reserve grade, multiple Senior Premiership players that will come back in sooner rather than later. Rowan PAGE, Jai KENEALLY, Harrison KING, Gus OSUGHRUE , Liam EADIE, to come back into the side. There is a wealth of talent there so expecting a much better showing this Saturday against CALOUNDRA.
Geeze
That is some talent to return.
Be interesting to see how they go once a number of them return.
must have some depth as they toweled Mayne 2's last wweekend

It will take some time to adjust to a change (going up in most cases) in divisions. Normally it takes a few years. Fitness and conditioning, team chemistry, team game plans, and other changes too is taken into account when building the squad across the 60 odd blokes you want to have across the two teams.

This is a hard and competitive division. The squad that you entered with (in the first year) is highly likely to not be there when you're playing amongst the last 4 teams left in a season (when you get to that level in the comp).

That and I’d suggest that after Maynes 2s winning 3 premierships or so aren’t probably what they once were.

Wasn’t that long ago they got into Div 1. Got smashed and fell back into Div 3 and struggled for a while prior to even getting into the powerhouse they were in Div 2. Which they weren’t for very long before going up. However they were a class above everyone else the year they won it.

Mayne did not look as strong in the Reserves as they normally do and unsure of availability etc last weekend. Springwood have some players that can offer something if called upon at Senior Level. Saying that the outs at present obviously hurt but not enough to have Mayne inflict that defeat on them I would have thought. Need to hit back hard this week.

Pretty sure this is coaches second year.
3rd - appointed post season 2022. I think he will be frustrated by current progress and the trick is to keep your core group together whilst trying to improve year on year. Not that easy at local level when players aren't contracted in the true sense of the word, certainly not for multiple years. Hope they pick up a bit.

Weird ending at Moreton Bay, the scoreboard showed Blues were up at full time?
Yes thought Hinterland won but saw on Moreton Bay fb they won.

Springwood accounted for Caloundra at home quite easily. Mayne beating UQ by about 3 goals or so. Looks like the only team that’ll get close to Mayne.

Yeah, Hawks were up by a goal. Free kick in the square to Lions right on the siren. They goaled to draw. Then apparently celebrated pretty hard for the draw. That bit was weird.
Looks like they ended up winning - maybe the blokes knew that the scoreboard was wrong and weren't celebrating a draw but a win..?

I think last week they celebrated big with the draw against the Hawks but this week against the blues I can only guess the goal umpires recounted the score and took a goal off the board for the blues which gave the lions the win? Licking 11.21 isn’t a good recipe for winning games but very strange ending especially trying to watch it on video

oh yes, can see looking at the video a Blues goal at 10min in the 4th quarter was counted twice on the scoreboard

not much reaction at fulltime by the players, maybe most of them knew

Hearing Hinterland Coach has quit!
Been super competitive under his watch.
Devastating news if true. Haven't kept up with QFA1 as much as I would've liked to yet this season with my Kings playing QAFL now, but Phil has been instrumental in the Blues recent rise and a great character around Queensland local footy for many years. Hope all is well up in hinterland

Not sure what character you saw but the bloke was nothing more than a selfish C*nt who didn’t really care about the family aspect of the club.
Since he arrived the ‘family club’ feeling has disappeared.
Hinterland will be better off without him.

Saw a lot more character than a bloke that would hide behind a fresh made account to take weak pot shots at a bloke that has just stepped away for his own and the clubs wellbeing. If you've been in my role or Phil's for a long period of time you end up with a long line of muppets like this with axes to grind and the funny thing is they are always people who we have had to call out on their own sht behaviour.

Blues President here gents - i follow the forum but rarely post.

So just to qwell the chatter - Phil made the decision to resign of his own accord. Fair to say from my perspective burnout is probably a significant aspect of that. If anyone knows the ongoing battle we have in the off season just to find locations to train and then deal with flooding multiple times and hold things together it all takes a toll.

Phil has a young family and can now invest time in his kids. He is a Premiership coach at our club and THE key driver in our rise from the absolute doldrums to where we are now. I've not seen a coach give how he has given in his seven years at the club.

Is it ideal timing? Hell no. What is important is his well being and we will be ok. The thing we love about footy is we all get to have another crack the next week yeah? Bring on Panthers tomorrow and see how we land.
