As good as Bond were this year, the side is majority uni students and not locals , so once their course etc. finishes they are likely to return to their original locality at any stage.
Plus they don’t have Colts, they could lose half their team next season thru no fault of their own.
Not quite, a lot of the list is GC based nowadays and pretty settled, yes there are comings and goings being a Uni but nowhere near the turnover of the earlier years.

Going through items that are included in clubs salary caps for 2020 and gee whiz everything is covered.Im still not certain a $25 breakfast voucher at a club sponsors establishment dhouod be included in salary cap.Cash awards definitely but isn’t this why we chase award sponsors and have done for years?Maybe missing something!

How would they Police that?

Good point Ablett very hard too other than word of mouth coming from opposing clubs after staying back for awards.Really restricts a clubs relationship with local business’

Yeah like I was saying to you the other day mate, its fairly comprehensive. The AFLQ might rethink the sponsor awards in due course but they also might argue whats to stop an accommodation place for instance providing "free" accommodation to a player in lieu of match payments if they were coming from Bris to play for Caloundra for instance. All I know is that it will stifle clubs like your own that have established good relations with local business. The other thing of course is that there is less cash paid and more vouchers provided to players for payment. eg a player who is paid $200/game is now given $150 + a $50 voucher to Rococos.

no competitions down south include this stuff. That Chris Davis bloke tried to cover bloody everything and in the end went too far.

what about a loyal supporter who lobs a case of cold beer into the rooms after a great win? they now have to include that in cap? bloody joke!

is the footy manager supposed to step in and tell the supporter the boys can't accept the beers due to cap concerns?? ffs

Yes agree Fan - bit of a fine line tbh. The salary cap is 2 fold imo - to prevent a "haves and have nots" comp developing but more importantly to protect clubs from themselves and rogue administrators. Including sponsor donations doesn't alleviate the latter scenario as no cash is being spent and in fact makes it harder for clubs to interact with the businesses around them.

We have a game that we requires more parents to participate as volunteers and now we are asking the average bloke that loves his club to be a brain surgeon in regards to managing salary cap and points system.

It is hard enough getting volunteers to stand on committees let alone having footy managers now. Days of a team manager just getting Team sheet signed and making sure beers are cold after game are dying.

Think lot more teams will start falling by wayside if they not set up off field correctly especially in lower community footy. The average hours that people put into clubs nowadays has increased dramatically plus number of people required.

And the fees just keep increasing for some reason?

Got to pay for a restructure review every two seasons mate, not cheap!

What about the half time lollies!

Can just imagine a player getting cramp and yelling for the pickle juice but the trainer is reluctant to run it out to him incase it takes them over their salary cap!

Guys. I hear what your saying about the impost of the administration and technicalities. However I think I'm be less worried about cartons of beer and more about clubs who engage in systemic disregard and rorting of the salary cap.

lets chuck in a change to the junior age groups for the 3rd time in 5 years

lost the freakin plot

The juniore age change is an absolute disaster, what complete morons.

should be 8s, 9s, 10s, 11s 13s, 15s, 17s and Colts should be 19s

this half age group is just stupid. So many kids lost to footy from the transition from 16's to Colts either because not ready to play, or because Colts is Saturday and most kids transition from 16s to Colts in year 11 or 12 and they suddenly have a clash with saturday school sport that wasn't there in 12,14 or 16s - so they just stop playing.

Who is making these decisions?@!?@

i would not be concerned about the policing of a salary cap after what the league allowed Southport to get away with!

3rd change in 5 years isnt it? there is no connection between junior and senior management. They would't even know what was happening in the same clubs from a junior and senior perspective

have they ever heard of progressive change?

this is a disasterous change in age groups!

Agree Thommo, think they feel important if they keep changing things at headquarters just to put more load on volunteers at clubs.

Not sure any logic in moving all age groups to 8.5, 9.5,10.5 etc.

When they moved the Colts to U18.5 I think U16's became the hard age group as you could potentially have a 16 year old playing against a 19 year old in Colts. At that age it is a big gap, so maybe moving U16's to 16.5 had some merit but that's about all you to adjust.

Not every age group FFS.

Is this to align footy with schools ? I’ve seen kids in same class be put different teams because of there age ! It’s make sense that way imo. Stupid being called a .5 division though 😂
