I watched Springwood and Moreton and this was before the rain hit. I dont think the Ground has looked better in my time that I have been a Spectator at Lowe Oval. They have also some pretty fair players to come back in after the bye in Page, Reid, FRIIS and a few other Premiership players who didnt play. One recruit Harrison KING from Barwon HEADS in Bellarine League a big bodied mid is going to be a handful for opposition. Class act and has played VFL footy. They looked fit and moved the ball well even though the conditions deteriorated pretty quickly. Moreton not a great day for them however they are better than that and will bounce back I am sure.

No matter who this really is, my brain always makes me think this is Harrison KING pumping himself up… hahahah

Well Mayne gave Sandgate a bit of a welcome to Div 1 didn’t they, good to see this old rivalry renewed though. Mayne flexing their muscles and showing they’re the ones to beat once again. Bit of a surprise with Caloundra beating Hinterland, both teams looked a bit wasteful judging by the scoreboard but can only imagine what Caloundra’s ground would be after the rain that’s been had.

Must say though judging by the results they have copped in Div 2 south it’s a good thing Beenleigh didn’t stay in Div 1, jeez 3 losses already by basically 100 points in the division below could only imagine what it would’ve been in this comp.

Tough slog up at Red Rooter today for Moreton v UQ, both grades. Very humid day given all the water in the ground, unusual for late April. Plenty of goals but also quite a physical contest.

Was very surprised to see UQ’s win over Springwood being almost 50 points. Shows how dominate UQ are.

Whilst both of Sandgates opponents were the reigning premiers and finalists. Sandgate losing to Hinterland by 10 goals and being smashed last week by Mayne shows the level between Div 2 and Div 1. And Sandgate almost went undefeated.

UQ looked very good, very quick out there. Was a lot of moments where Springwood were on top but didn’t get the reward and then UQ would go bang bang very quick and the margin would push back out again. Very good team.

Gonna be interesting to see how Sandgate go this year if these first couple results are anything to go by. Caloundra look to be not too bad this year considering they have been very quiet in the pre season. Good result last week against hinterland and respectable result against the reigning premiers either

Sandgate just not quite at the pace of Div 1 yet. Will certainly take a few games to adjust. They’re starting to, just need to get consistent and games will certainly help with that. Showed a bit at times against Hinterland. Going to take a while.

Footy boy hates admitting Mayne played well 😂😂😂 Cmon
My first sentence literally said Mayne looked good. I can also say Springwood looked atrocious which they did, both things can be true. Take nothing away from Mayne I mean they are the reigning premiers but would expect a much better performance from Springwood than what they showed up yesterday.

Sandgate almost got the win with the lions kicking after the siren to secure a draw.

I’ve been watching the lions for the last 2 years having moved up from down south and cannot understand how this team hasn’t been relegated…

Coach, captain and vice captain are father and both sons….🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Terrible win/loss ratio with this core… surely change is needed?

No teams get relegated anymore. Nor do teams get elevated automatically anymore either. Not at least since COVID. And if a team wants to be relegated I’d assume they have to give a please explain to AFLQ. Only one since 2020 has been Beenleigh who are now in Div 2 south from Div 1.

I can’t remember if Moreton Bay made finals or just missed out but that was in their first year coming up after smashing Div 2. But since then they’ve been on a slow decline. Losing Giles to sherwood didn’t help them either.

Lovely profile pic btw. Looks like Freddy’s girlfriends.

The funny thing with this comment is that Sandgate have just been elevated this year after 2+ powerful years in Div 2 and they just drew with Moreton Bay on the weekend. If Sandgate had stayed in Div 2 there’d be some calls that they were trophy hunting. That would suggest that the weekends result says Moreton Bay are still well placed in Div 1, even though they certainly have some work to do to challenge the top sides.

You’ve got comments back in 2018 about the club so you would be aware they have worked hard and built themselves into elevation not long back also. Bit of a weak attack on a family that has given that club a lot over many years.

This is not a personal “attack on a family” more an observation that changes at football clubs occur when it has not performed over a long period of time…In my humble opinion that change is now.

There is not many clubs that keep coaches because they have “ given so much”…

Maybe the current coach has delivered all he could in Div 2?🤷‍♂️

Pumas well beaten by a good Mayne side and cannot detract from the win from their perspective. Mayne probably not at absolute full strength either. However FRIIS and MURCUTT both in Reserve grade, multiple Senior Premiership players that will come back in sooner rather than later. Rowan PAGE, Jai KENEALLY, Harrison KING, Gus OSUGHRUE , Liam EADIE, to come back into the side. There is a wealth of talent there so expecting a much better showing this Saturday against CALOUNDRA.

Isn't the current coach only in his 2nd year?

They have a desire to be elevated to QAFL, there is no chance they will be going back to D2.

Many clubs have this lofty and unrealistic desire, but I reckon Moreton Bay actually well placed off the field to achieve that - just need the on-field stuff to catch up.
