Well no one is touching Mayne. Even though we knew that with Coops gone. Smacked Hinterland by 100.

Second place still up for grabs which will be a tight tussle with UQ and Hinterland.

I assume top 5 with a 7 team comp. Huge home ground advantage for whoever finishes 2nd and 4th.
Back to a top 4 this year. So a 3 week finals series.

Pumas a couple of games in hand though. More likely I think Springwood/UQ for second, Hinterland and Caloundra with byes upcoming probably fighting out for 4th and 5th

Springwood no strangers to the big dance in recent years. But seem to be a bit inconsistent currently. Think it’ll be Mayne, daylight, UQ and Hinterland but can’t see any reason Springwood don’t do their usual strong run home and sneak into second or third.

It’ll certainly be an interesting finish to the year.

-Mayne light years ahead of everyone right now, that forward line is unbelievable when you got 3 guys in the top 5 of the goal kicking. Would imagine could be a few nerves if they go through undefeated to GF day which right now looks almost guaranteed.
  • Hinterland I would’ve thought would have put up a better contest on Saturday. They got so much talent on paper and they have been starting to put it all together lately excluding their performance against Mayne.
  • UQ still a very dangerous side with talent through all parts of the ground.
  • Springwood been very up and down this year but not sure I’d be want to be facing them in finals, lots of winning finals experience in that team, if they get it together could be very interesting.
  • Caloundra I feel are being very underrated. Beat hinterland twice, should’ve been 3 times if it wasn’t for hinterland going big in last 10 mins of the game. Gave Mayne a good run for it at home, almost feels like there are no genuine stars in that team except for Stewart but jeez they play well as a team.
  • Sandgate have been a nice surprise this year, only the 1 win and draw but excluding the Mayne & Springwood games they have competed very well.
  • Moreton well I’m not sure about them. Definitely underperforming I think for what they can be, really miss Giles in that midfield.

Would think more likely Redcliffe come up and no one down. Div 1 needs filling up a bit.
Would imagine Moreton probably still have QAFL aspirations although their results over the last few years would be letting them well behind in that regard. Redcliffe look almost certain to come up you’d imagine. Would be nice to see a couple GC teams come up too but can’t see that happening.

100% - bit ordinary i think that the better ones don't like Bond. Great to see a club like Cooly getting their act together and having some success again. gee they were a good club 25 years ago. I have heard some really good people around that club now and it would be sensational if a club like that ended up in Div 1 at some point. If there was 3 GC clubs in Div 1 plus the crop thats in there now and maybe Mt gravatt fell back it would be a really good competition.

To big upsets in the rain today!

Probably biggest upset is UQ over Mayne by 2 points. Maynes first loss of the season.

Moreton Bay with a win over Caloundra.

Probably not the worst time of year for Mayne to record that loss. Would rather it now than the Grand final. Sets up a hell of a game next week at Lowe Oval. Springwood Vs Uq and winner gets the double chance.

Moreton put the dagger through any last remaining chance Caloundra had at finals.

Pretty boring end to a good season coming up this weekend. Looks like no one will change spots on the ladder in either grade.

Mayne are hosting Pumas this and next weekend in both grades.

While the elimination final will be UQ v Hinterland (With Mayne and Caloundra in the 2’s)

Who is everyone’s early GF tips in both grades?

What on earth happened at Mayne yesterday. Checked the score at half time and it was 92 to 9 to Mayne. Ended up winning by about 100 or so with Springwood kicking a few in junk time. Did Mayne get a few back or did Springwood not rock up.

Springwood I think would’ve had about 12 of their best 22 not playing yesterday. Guessing resting/ heard a flu went through the team also. Mayne also looked to be missing a few anyway Doolan Etc. Funnily enough that’s the smallest Margin Mayne has actually beaten Springwood by all year. Next week will be interesting but

Hard to Go past Mayne in the Seniors considering what they have done all year. Only the one blemish on the record. In the 2s you’d almost think the favourite would
Be whichever one of Springwood or UQ don’t make the GF as the ressies could field a full strength side with senior experience who has qualified down.

With my Kings all done and dusted thought I'd head down to Lowe Oval to watch the old enemy against UQ. Quite a scrappy game, with the cream rising to the top in Page dominating and UQ just not quite putting the finishing touches on.

Could Springwood do what they've become accustomed to and knock off the heavily favoured tigers next week? Would be a scary prospect for them knowing the Pumas history and experience.

Been a quiet forum this year with the Kings promotion, keen to hear how the teams have travelled. See moreton have moved on from their coach and Sandgate probably wouldve hoped for a better first year althought not too suprising. UQ seemed to fight hard all year with up and down results without the dominance of crozier. With their reserves also in the GF in what should be an interesting day of footy out at Grange.

Mayne have been the dominant team all year and only had the one blemish on the record against UQ in which they still almost came back and won the game. They deserve to be heavy favourites especially with their record against the pumas all year. Although Grand finals do turn into a whole different ball game and the pumas do turn it on in big games so hopefully it’s a cracker of a Grand final. Was a bit of a strange year almost in Div 1 with only 7 teams, Moreton maybe a bit disappointing but showed when they played at home they were always hard to beat. Sandgate showed some glimpses back in Div 1 and for the most part held their own in games this year but did cop some heavy losses. Thought Caloundra were very good during the year considering they don’t seem to have the top level talent apart from Stewart quite like the teams above them. Thought hinterland were going to be a bit stronger this year considering some of their recruits but have the oval go underwater 4 times and coaching changes make for a difficult proposition for any team. My god UQ do play an exciting brand of footy, all guns blazing basically and that full forward Campbell can certainly take a grab. Still quite young too so have time ahead of them as well.

Begs the question with 7 teams. Do they bring one team up from Div 2 to make it 8? Bring 3 up and make it 10?

Moorooka goes into Saturdays next year. So if Redcliffe come up it’s still a very large Div 2 north comp. Unless a couple come from Div 2 south? As I assume PAC Pines will be there as well now in Div 2.

May want to check your facts before posting old mate. Against UQ in round 17, Mayne were up by 25 points at 3/4 time. UQ kicked 5.5 to 1.2 in last qtr to win by 2 points - 88 to 86. Would hardly call that almost coming back and winning the game!!

Okay maybe calling it a come back is a bit far fetched but if you watch the last 2 mins after Uq get in front, Mayne have multiple inside 50’s but fail to score a goal. Point I was more so making was that they’ve been the best all year and were not far away from being undefeated before heading into the big dance.

Undeniably best of the bunch, you get what you pay for. The last 2 mins you describe showcase some resolute defence by UQ. But if you call rebounded 50 entries a win then good for you. Got to give it to a very young inexperienced group playing a great game.
