Is Brendan Forbes coaching Pine Rivers next year?

1 week since the seasons finishe. Not to mention a Grand final appearance from bottom of the ladderin 2019. I think our coaches deserve a bit more credit, and first dibs on going around again in 2021.

Forbes has been great for us this year and provided plenty of experience, would love to have him around in any capacity next year. but the injury he suffered in the Grand Final might’ve made that unlikely.

For now, we’ll just enjoy the off season and our time away from footy.

Thanks for the season everyone!

what did he actually do mate? thoiught his injury was a massive loss in the context of the game.

Absolutely, he started working up the ground and getting massively involved.

He dislocated his pointer finger at the knuckle closest to the hand. It end up jammed under the plate and could not be moved, had to have surgery in the end. Was a damn shame.

You'd think that if a coach gets you to a gf.
It would be there's to turn down.
But not the case in some suituations.
I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
Good luck to him.
Enjoy the off-season and hopefully a lot less rules next year.

Good sources he is. Doesn’t mean other coaches of this year aren’t involved but I think it’s great to make him coach because you know Fabian will be trying to get him back to Sandgate.

He would have played at Pine bc his work colleague would have talked him into it.
Strong word that josh Wagner May end up at Sandgate in 2021 and even his brother Corey might if he doesn’t get offers outside of Qld after both being delisted from Melbourne. If turns out to be what a massive fillip for the hawks

Be interesting to see how the competition format is set up again next year and if this Division is effected.

Covid free you would think all the Northern Rivers Teams head back to south competition but if Kenmore and Vic Point head up to Div 1 then there may be some shuffling of competitions yet again.

This competition was very even with very few blow out games so would be a shame to see it reconfigured yet again.

Not sure where Sandgate dit about getting back in and at what level and if Zillmere thinking about Saturday footy?

Still a bit to play out in off season so strap in.

Sandgate looking to enter div 2. Zillmere staying Friday night. You can stop wondering and probably don’t have to “strap in”.

Was more meaning to strap in for changes to competitions Longy.

I thought you would be more of a strap on type of bloke😂

Of course there will be changes! It wouldn’t be a season if they didn’t move the comps, change the names of the comps etc.

I also would like it to be known I have given the strap ons away for good.

Massive for Sandgate if true. Will no doubt lure a few players back from other clubs. You don’t think Josh would go to Aspley?

Possibly getting to that stage of life where he might just want to relax with his footy - I'm not sure what his mindset would be but very strong Sandgate family. His folks live on the sunshine coast - there would be some pretty happy clubs up this way that would love to convince him to play closer to mum and dad... :)

Haha. We wish. Think u need to attend an AGM and see the $60+k allocated to ground hire. Not sure u really have any idea on these matters to be fair.

Ground hire, do you guys pay fees to council to hire your ground? Or are you referring to your annual lease coast for the facility?

I'm just intrigued how it works in each council as its so inconsistent and you hear so much rubbish (in places like this)

Happy to share we have annual lease fees for the entire facility (reduced by council this year, thanks!) then we fully maintain the playing surfaces ourselves at our own cost. Biggest expense being ~$60k for water. Then obviously fuel costs, fertiliser, herbcide etc. Mower maintenance varies from year to year, but the mower itself was $30k a few years back.

thank god we have incredible volunteers that actually do the mowing and all the other labour like line marking etc.

Yeah that sounds like the arrangement at Caloundra Thommo - same, we were incredibly lucky we had a very good club patron who had done very well in business so was happy to donate time/money/resources to ensure the ground was in good nick.
At Maroochy its different - no one from the club looks after the facility, it is leased but it would be inclusive of ground maintenance. This is obviously to ensure it is of a good enough standard for AFL clubs to train at (which they still are after a successful weekend for clubs in the sunshine coast pod). But the club gets whacked incredibly high. ($60k i think Im being conservative). This is after sharing the cost bn the AFLQ (rep sides), Masters, Juniors.

so a lease fee is inclusive of maintenance? It appears tommo and other Brisbane clubs pay a lease fee, then maintain the facility themselves (or pay someone to)

60k to be gifted a facility that has hundreds of thousands poured into it annually and the revenue earning opportunities with it is not a bad trade

Still have to find that money FF - its not a free lunch. Like I said I think I'm on the conservative side but what would you put into Jubilee Park as an alternative?
What revenue opportunities come from having a good playing surface? The footy club doesnt benefit from having AFL clubs train there, no pre-season matches are played there, no finals are played there outside of those that Maroochy earn the right to host. There is the odd state/national carnival for schoolboys/girls. And any revenue generated is only done so with volunteer assistance. TBH Hinterland would have a far better chance of gaining good revenue from their facility, like Noosa has done so, because they control the lease and the terms of use. Noosa is like Caloundra - control their own ground hence are able to use it for whatever the like (like markets, music festivals - thank you $20k in the kick - circus, etc).
Dont get me wrong the facility has a pull factor for players - guys take one look and say "yep I'm here" but clubs like MB have that advantage as well as does Yeronga - neither of those clubs have had the success Maroochy has had. Theres a bit more to a footy club than a nice facility.

Well what else do you discuss in the off-season

Said it a while back but wonder how many clubs will be starting up preseason in a couple weeks, or if most will wait till Xmas

Would think that would be a late January with late finish And uncertainty regarding start date for 2021
