I like the three zone idea, and eight teams in each makes the most sense for fixturing. If we had to have a south-of-the-river club in the north though, I think most clubs up here would prefer it be Wynnum. They're the most north, and they're just off the Gateway.

North — Gympie, Hinterland, Moreton Bay, Redcliffe, Pine Rivers, Sandgate, Kedron, Wynnum
Central — Yeronga, Kenmore, Jindalee, Moorooka, Alex Hills, Park Ridge, Ipswich, Coomera
South — Carrara, Bond Uni, Robina, Burleigh, Coolangatta, Tweed, Ballina, Byron

Think this definitely has merit and would be something we would support as a club. Playing clubs near by in this day and age is now more important for some reason than years before.

they haven’t got the numbers for 2 teams they won’t be coming here
Complete and utter disgrace if that is the case, especially when they are throwing $$ at 16/17yr old girls from clubs like Grange to come across and play, let alone AFLW girls. Is the major issue when you endeavour to create quick fixes around numbers.

Don’t think Grange should be too upset, were pretty happy poaching half the state 15’s side to play 17’s last year from a heap of local clubs, with the state coach being at grange, including Aspley juniors.

It's always going to catch up to a club when you don't treat everyone with the respect they deserve.
That includes juniors as well.
If money is the way you build your player depth your stuffed.
If constant recruiting is your other method your not getting loyal players.
Making promises you can't fulfill will have players leaving in droves.
If your expectation is winning at all costs you won't win anything.
The definition of a great club in my opionion not based on premerships.
There's a lot more to it than that.
I like the team photo senerio.
If it looks very similar every year your on the right track.
That includes juniors and seniors.
A club is where players want to be not where they can get the best coin.

no surprise MB and Alex Hills had the lowest points tally last season

Yep - fair enough. Wasn't aware of that but it just shows a pathetic culture developing in what is a pretty new environment with coaches recruiting (under age) players from other local sides to fill their own boots and egos. All play in same comp, AFLQ have an obligation to prevent it from happening imo.

H

How is it sexist? Aspley’s women’s side would get rolled by there 16s div one side...

tell me I’m wrong

Not sure that's got anything to do with it. Whether I'm a fan or not, womens footy has improved each year. Can not and should not be judged against men but on themselves over the journey.

Lets get back to Div 2 footy and the new teams... all 3 (Yeronga, Sandgate and Kenmore) now officially in the comp. I assume Gympie need to provide evidence they meet the AFLQ pillars to secure a spot, but were told there would be no ramifications for pulling the pin during covid.

15 teams, top 8 - plenty of discussion to be had about who slots in where!

Gympies only hurdle is numbers.
Otherwise straight back in.
But they are in the draw so one would assume they are good to go.
Sandgate will have some talent but I think depth will be tested as the season goes on.
To be expected comming from zero players last year.
Huge effort to get back up to two sides in one hit.
Good luck to them and glad the club is back playing senior footy.
Yeronga getting back to Saturday footy.
Unknown as they would have needed not only more players but some quality as well.
Didn't set Friday nite footy alight.
Maybe depth will be tested as season goes on.
Kenmore should and rightly so be a hand full for everyone.
The rest of the usual subjects will feature at the pointy end.
It's seems the old saying is true.
There's only two types of people in Brisbane.
Those who are on the north side.
Then the rest who wish they were.
This comp just proves that.

Is there a draft draw floating around as yet?
No. Was supposed to be out last Friday but because the shit hit the fan with Kenmore it’s all changed. Hopefully today or early next week. What I understand is round 1 will be April 10 and GF first weekend in September

So everyone plays each other twice which is only 14 rounds , not enough, and play 4 teams 3 times to make it 18 rounds never works out even.
Should alway be 10 team comps , 18 rounds , 9 home n 9 away games.

Yes, that's ideal. But it's not going to work with 24 clubs to accomodate, is it?

teams don’t go care where they go.

Clearly they do, or we wouldn't have all these south-of-the-river clubs in the "north" comp.

Have they caught the blokes that stole the mains from moreton bay’s lights?

inside job maybe?

Was the work of professionals. Don't think we have any sparkies currently, but I'm surprised by the number of people that assume this. It's not like we're the only place that's been targeted recently.

Pugs give us an update on the tigers... if Aspley flog to Friday surely youll
Attract players

We're happy with where we're at Dusty. Retained the majority of last seasons list and picked up a couple along the way. Got a group of Colts who will press for senior selection at some stage.

Not sure about the Aspley boys, I've heard mixed reports as to how they are traveling. We locked in 1 over the summer who is a champion bloke.

Outandabout may have more knowledge as I understand a few have lobbed up at Kedron.

Like you we are happy where we are at.
The best part of our list is they are all ripping blokes and great people.

Thank you.

To answer your earlier question "Why would that be", I coached the QFA side for 4 years and my kids play at Aspley. That said, I'm not involved in the ins and outs these days.
