QFA Div 2 North

I've been suggesting this for a while.

There are so many teams, and the lists are so transient - working out who will be good at any given time is impossible anyway.

Should just be Div 3 North, Central and South - probably 8-10 teams per comp anyway and its easy done.

Yes, there will be thrashings - but what competition doesn'tn have thrashings?

I would only caution that in the last 2 years certainly, the gap between Div 3 and Div 4 was enormous - but I feel this will even out over time.

The gap between top of Div 3 and bottom of Div 3 was probably bigger than gap between Div 3 top teams and Div 4 top teams also.

No doubt Ormeau lost a few players, but they went from Div 4 to Div 3 as Premiers and got a 20 goal round 1 thrashing and never looked back
Yeah there seems to be this utopian outlook that every comp should have teams that are within 6 goals of each other on any given day. Its just commonsense to have these Friday night comps regionalised I would have thought. Just pure logistics and getting people to a game by 730pm who have worked all day.

If you can’t get a reserve grade side up you have options and division 2 isn’t it. They’re changing the woman’s structure to a more first and reserve grade system. If division 3 becomes a Saturday comp for clubs with one team then so be it. But have one teams in Division 2 would be sh*t, with inequities in the draw, club fees etc…
If you can't get a reserve grade side up you have no options other than to play Friday night. So you have 1. Whats wrong with a Saturday 1 side comp? Linked with a women's or colts game?

The womens Div 2 will always be one side. QAFLW is seniors/reserves. Div 1 as well but that might change in time. Even this year it was surveyed to bring QAFLW back to one side only. I think this is the preferred model from HQ.

Division 1 woman’s is becoming firsts and reserves. They were finding a clubs second side was playing against another clubs 1 side and were getting belted. Both sides will be playing at the same venue which also wasn’t happening. If the decide to make a one team Saturday comp then fair enough clubs should pull out of Div 2 and go into that comp. Will bring division 2 into a more manageable competition

I love this idea!! The combined competitions would eventually find it’s own level. Yes there may be some initial thrashings but the localised competition with less travel commitments would actually draw players to your clubs for exactly that reason. I don’t think there should be an issue to play any of those localised games on a Saturday where clubs can cash in with the agreement of both clubs!

I don't see any club that is a genuine thirds side wanting to play Saturday.
Div one and two will keep reserves for a while yet.
Aflq are not going to entertain that for a while.
Lots of other issues to address first.
Don't think draws will be out anytime soon. But the start date is in and we all just work off that.
Lots could happen before then so we just wait and see what the powers to be come up with. Tough job for them ATM juggling all the teams and comps.

That’s a bold statement

Yes pure numbers probably demands this now too.

Start date absolutely can change now

Panthers faves for Div 4 flag now

surely caloundra not dropping down?

Having said that, I went to their ground a few times on the holidays for a kick and a run with my son - looked pretty deserted and overgrown, apart from a fancy $50k mower that didn't even appear locked up (or used!)

Think they have been training over at Kawana's fields?

News to us regarding Caloundra.Pretty sure that’s all crap.We have a practise game with them on the 19 th at Caloundra with all three grades confirmed starters.I’ve heard they have picked a few handy types from Victoria!

They wont drop down. That $50k mower was generously purchased by the guy who started up the club and is now worth millions. He will probably write it off... :) TBH the footy club has no use of the oval during summer - don't train on it. The teams are training at Kawana juniors complex at Meridan currently. Blame the Little A's for the quality of the oval - that is a one way agreement if I've ever seen one.

Yes thats the more accurate mail. I assumed FF was talking about the Morningside 3rds as premiership favourites for Div 4?
