That would have to include the 2 woman’s teams wouldn’t it?Bloody hell! 150 players!! That would be the largest senior football club in Australia I would guess. Big presentation night when you include their 2 women's teams...![]()

Problem re 17.5 is most of those clubs don’t have a teamYes - this is a better snapshot imo. But even then there are opinions like a.. holes on what is the solution. If any person on this forum was sitting in the chair then they would be getting pillored by all and sundry. I think Div 2 comp is the obvious place to have a 1 team Saturday comp. Not sure how it becomes a POD to the Fri comp other than the day itself though but might attract more clubs that have fallen back to Friday nights due to the current rules than we think. It makes good sense to align with a women's game or even put a 17.5 game on the Saturday if it can be coordinated between 2 clubs? I think it requires some real thinking outside the square and the bottom line is you want people at your game to have a drink and pie. No real other way of making a buck for most clubs at this level.
FWIW I think the obvious solution that HQ could look into to increase any fence sitters is registration costs (clubs could too - some say they don't make a dime out if it, I say bs) and looking at getting fees to clubs down.
The beauty of Fri night footy is that it distributes officials more easily meaning more comps can access these people if they are happy to do 2 games a weekend.
Pretty sure the year we played Viccy Point we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near what the cap is now, the following year when Carrara knocked us off we certainly recruited and looked after a few players but nothing over the top that’s for sure.Correct me if I’m wrong but Ipswich only had success when there was no salary cap and quickly went down hill when it was introduced?
Just goes to show how important coaches are at this level. Not only do they have to coach and mentor they have to be good active recruiters.Pretty sure the year we played Viccy Point we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near what the cap is now, the following year when Carrara knocked us off we certainly recruited and looked after a few players but nothing over the top that’s for sure.
Ipswich isn’t an easy area to attracted players, even if you have the funds there to exhaust your salary cap.
Kimbo did a bloody great job at that club, I played there as his Senior assistant before moving across to coach Moorooka and all I’ll say is he turned that club around both on and of the field through his efforts and I guess that’s shown now he’s left the club and it’s already struggling sadly.
Great seeing him get the opportunity at QAFL level as a coach, we’ll deserved.

i've heard they have around 150 male players, excluding the QAFLW program. That would have to include the 2 woman’s teams wouldn’t it?

WOW!! That’s a lot of guys that potentially miss out on a game of footy.i've heard they have around 150 male players, excluding the QAFLW program.
50 per team!
Yeah okay mate. I dont know you and dont need to justify our club decisions to you. Pull your head in.Why did you go up to Div 1 last year? As if you can field 2 teams this year in Div 2, I think the league should have said you are staying in div1.

And it looks like you listened to me as well. Back in Div 2 lolDon’t waste your time responding Macman. Interesting he reckons the Vikings should have been made to stay up when I distinctly remember hearing that you Wynnum scum should !!!! off back to second division from the same mouth on the return round at Coorparoo.

A large number of Nth Shore's squad is made up of those in the property game - hence Fri nights are attractive. Many oppo players possibly had a card snuck in their shorts during games inviting to an open home the next morning.Northshore must be destined for Div 2 sooner rather than later though? Big catchment on the sunny coast, 2 x QAFL, 2 x Div 1 and then 2 x Div 3. Div 2 the missing piece of the sunny coast puzzle.
Plus Caloundra 3rds now - not sure what division they will be in but likely div 4. Hence my comment the other day about the state of the code in SEQ - lots of blokes playing right now, just not on your traditional Saturday afternoon anymore.Northshore must be destined for Div 2 sooner rather than later though? no touchy anyone in wog ball- not unlike many sports tbh SM. Soccer is played midweek at times
North Shore also entering an Over 35’s team!Even Noosa have a meeting tomorrow night regarding joining a masters comp this year! Plenty of blokes still keen to have a kick.
I think it’s just based on 10 team competition now and not 12 Bucky. Start now 15th April after Easter and only 3 byes instead of 5 from what I have seen.Strap in lads I'm hearing the season is pushed back.
Can only mean more clubs struggling.
