When you get a coach who is well respected and connected, good players he already has a previous relationship can very often come for no/little $$$. Especially when they were already competitive and their addition would help with a premiership tilt. Some blokes like that stuff, not just $$$

If you want to go up a division and be competitive, you HAVE to spend money. It's about being able to sustain it, otherwise you just end up back where you were in a couple of years time.

I think it's more that some clubs aren't using the cap... you believe several are over? No need to name them but out of curiosity what club do you follow in Div 2 North?

whats your definition of fair? this is my sixth season in qld, i was in seniors at redcliffe when i first come up, got towelled up by moreton my first year, then it was moreton and wynnum, then it was hinterland and wynnum. then between 1s and 2s have lost 4 prelims in a row. club has done a great job retaining majority of players and pushing us older blokes to 12pm. So is that unfair? we added three of the blokes highlighted up there last year? the other 2 this year? isn't incremental improvement fair?

Top of the table clash should be a more even game than round 1.

With aspirations of going to Div 1, I don’t think they’d jeopardise that by breaching a salary cap and the potential sanctions that could come from it.

On the outside I guess it could look a little dubious that an ex AFL player, and 3-4 ex NEAFL/QAFL players are playing, but that’s also a positive for Div 2.

I was concerned about the players points more than anything, but it hasn’t seemed to be an issue yet. Maybe it will be come finals when you want your best 22.

I doubt many clubs are using the full salary cap. Realistically, $20k is a lot of money for Div 2 clubs unless some serious multiple major sponsorship is involved!

Not sure feathers were rustled as they are usually 'ruffled' but fair enough to ask the question as some quality players there.

Redcliffe run away with it in the 4th quarter against Alex
Yeronga come from 4 goals down at 3 quarter time to beat kedron and hand them there 3rd consecutive loss
Jindalee edge pine rivers…will that loss haunt them come end of the year?
Kenmore do the job and keep there strong season moving against zillmere

Redcliffe bar a catastrophe probably have the 1 spot locked down
Alex will probably end up with that number 2 spot but very close between 2-7 on the ladder at the moment

Gympie 2’s have always had that problem
Wouldn’t go as far to say as there done because there results on the park this year have been the best they have had in the last 5 years
Years gone past just about every side in the top 6 could put 200 on them and hold them scoreless but it’s a different outcome for them this year

Not involved in that side of club anymore mate so wouldn’t know. But I would think just get a bit more competitive in the competition they are in first would be priority. No good going to a stronger competition just yet until they get the youth footy program up and going and back on track plus juniors and build from ground up after all the damage done by the other morons who continue to flounder.

I would think Div 1 might be the aim in next 3-5 years rather than changing current Divs at the current level.

Great effort by the council to make sure they got a home given the crap that went down with the greenbank club.

You can’t tell me Bowles, Farry, Fowler, the Allison brothers, Jackson, Lowney and probably others are playing for free. And then that surely doesn’t fit into $1250 a week - which also includes the more than generous post game awards payments!

Ive heard from a good source that Redcliffe actually recruited for their ressies team pretty heavily this year.
