Half right Buck. Wasn’t at the game but apparently boys played some good footy today. Good to get a win and get our season on track. We will only improve from here once we get a few back each week hopefully.
Didn't get down there yesterday but scoreboard indicates one way traffic in the 1s.

Saw a couple of the boys on PR team sheet did play for Mt Gravatt. Not sure what their impact was on the day.

Some other interesting results.

The Wynnum v Alex looking at the scoreboard must have been an absolute cracker. Alex showing they are still around the mark.

Pine served it right up to Yeronga by the looks of it. Looks like a couple of late ones were able to help Pine salvage a draw. Any reports?

Good to see Gympie competitive against Jindalee - hopefully they can build some form off that game.

Sandgate and Redcliffe I heard on the grapevine was a really well fought contest. Sandgate would be wrapped to be 2-0. On the flip side, Redcliffe 0-3 hurts.

And Kenmore's form is probably better than what it looks - pushing a number of sides expected to finish high on the ladder - they aren't far away.

Any reports?

Two of the MtGravatt boys actually trained with us early in season but wanted to try their hand at higher level.

We had Bomber Davidson kick 7 and Chez 5 who had main impact on game. We could only use players that missed a game at MtGravatt Ressies so not sure two players were difference. Although we had another three out Thomson, Sulks and Ollington from previous week we got a few of our better players back as well.

Still got miles of improvement when we get Hurst, Baker, Peck (hopefully), McKee, plus the ones above we will be a lot better side.

But my gravatt had a bye.
So everyone missed out this week.

Playing guys who chose to play at another club ahead of guys registered at your own club tells us all a fair bit about Park Ridge. Great way to show your list their are opportunities as long as higher clubs don’t have byes 🤣. Would be interested on how many other clubs would think this is a great foundation for a club. If a I was a fringe player trying to make the grade I’d say stick it up your ass and look for a loyal club not shafting it’s own.

5 x (p)

Few boys from Woodies that missed a game and were happy to help out in twos. If you look at results not sure it made any difference looking at scores. Think one bloke had never played before.

I am sure every club is stretched at some point with injuries over the years and we no different. We have 56 on list and only had 38 available to pick from this week. Hopefully that changes in next few weeks as previously posted.

I dont know the specifics, and in no way am I a defender of Park Ridge, but weren't the rules amended a couple of years ago?
If a team 2 levels above has a bye then they can't permit down 2 levels (i.e. QAFL to Div 2) if those players from the higher level played the week before. i.e. unless any of the permitted players played the week before its play on?

In addition, and not knowing the rules in detail either, I wonder whether it pertains to whether a player plays QAFL or QAFL reserve - unsure if it's relevant or not. Still Me also mentioned that a couple of them did a preseason earlier in the year. If they were previously signed could that have a bearing on things?

Whether rules were stretched it remains to be seen we can only beat who was put in front of us. It was clear those players were a class or 2 above our guys. If they hadn’t played any senior footy yet will be interesting to see where they sit with Mt Gravatt as the season wears on. You could tell they have at least trained at a superior level.

would have been less noticeable had it been 1 or 2 but the number was undeniable. If They trained earlier in the year fair enough however the FF openly admitted to his opponent he didn’t know who they were or even their names.
But as I said on Saturday night we are a community competition and everyone deserves to play in one way or another. Not how we as a club would have done it but each to their own.

I hope for your club Still Me they enjoyed their time and transfer in permanently.

That probably because Bomber Davidson our full forward has only been back on the track the last 2 weeks😂

I think its been suggested these blokes weren't even getting a run in Mt Gravatt 2's. If that is the case then not sure there can be any grounds for complaining - I know plenty of Div 2 clubs on the coast and otherwise that would gladly take blokes missing out in the QAFL 2's to fill the boots of their senior side if they could. Especially if stocks were low. The difference is these guys actually played rather than said no to the phone call.
Now each to their own as to whether you throw them in your senior side vs reserves group but tbf there are guys running around at 2's level in the lower divisions that actually don't aspire to playing senior footy - they know their level and happy to be play it and if there was only 38 to pick from then you are starting to dig into that area of your list as well...
I imagine PR was a pretty happy place to be around on Saturday night

Lucky you get to play them again. Imagine how you’ll go with kassulke, Thomson and hurst back in the side.

Yeronga obviously in the mix after a draw with Pine Rivers. Looked like Pine Rivers kicked last few late to snatch a draw.

Nuts looks like he has them humming, but Moreton still look like the mountain for everyone to climb.

Just to clear a few things up, we (Sherwood QAFL and QFA Div 3) permit players out every week to these clubs.

In some cases, they play Senior footy (rarely at our request, but sometimes we do ask, they don't always agree) and 90% of the time they play Reserves.

When we first started doing it, I had multiple clubs say to me (not just one) that 'there is a spot in the seniors if you have someone' and my initial reaction was the same as the above, and thought that surely there is a bloke in the 2's looking for a chance at their club rather than using our bloke.

However, having spoken to and dealt with many of these clubs on a regular basis, I became a bit more educated. Some blokes just don't want to play Seniors, its that simple. Some clubs have 15-16 Senior players and then actually have to ask their ressies to play for the Seniors. there are also some pretty decent ressies players (and Friday night players) that for whatever reason can't play footy at 2pm on a Saturday, so they don't - but they still want to have a kick.

Only last week I pulled the boots on for Park Ridge ressies, and while I was out there - I ran into Longy playing Ressies for Sandgate.

On the same weekend, we had 2 at Yeronga, 3 at Jindalee and 4 at Kenmore.

This week, we sent 2 blokes to Park Ridge Ressies that have literally never played footy before and missed out on QFA selection. None went to Jags because they were in Gympie and 6 played at Kenmore, although 2 of them have transferred over permanently and are playing decent senior footy there.

What has really thrown a spanner in the works in the last few years is that we are now careful with who we let play Seniors for other clubs when they miss out on QAFL Reserves selection, as we have now explained to these players that if they play a single senior game even in Division 2, they are banned from Division 3/4 for the entire season and thus cant play 3rds at Sherwood.

I think this rule needs further discussion, as I feel it was quite rightly designed to prevent players dropping back from higher grades - but more often than not these days, its actually preventing (or protecting?!) Div 2 Seniors from guys coming up from Div 3 and filling in for senior footy.

Great post - and confirms what I said earlier about some blokes just don't want to play senior footy. Fantastic that you have so many doing so Thommo and happy to farm out. Creates good relations and ensures a bloke who paid his rego at seasons beginning can get value for his money.

Will this become a issue if you keep supplying kenmore with players and they keep winning in the ressies? It’s early in the season but they’re on top of the ladder and have spanked last years runners up?

Kenmore ressies have won 2 or 3 flags in the last 4 years to my knowledge, with precisely zero help from us. I don't think a few Colts graduates and guys missing our 2s are going to artificially inflate what is traditionally a pretty strong magoos outfit.

they have only been taking them when short, and like i said - 2 young blokes have cleared over and playing regular 1s. We hope to see them back for next pre-season ready to have another crack.

It's a great gesture by you and the club you represent to:
1) Support teams short of numbers and;
2) Offer opportunities to footballers who wouldn't otherwise get the chance.

However, Personally (and no reflection on you because you are just supporting clubs in need) I feel it has the potential to mess with the integrity of competitions, ladder placements etc. You'd be pretty flat if your side missed out on a chance of finals because a couple of handy footballers were potentially the difference in a H&A game and it cost you the final spot.

Additionally, it's not overly equitable due to certain networks clubs have, some clubs having no feeders to lend support, geographical location of clubs etc.

I feel this is something HQ needs to resolve and quickly. This is not a sour grapes post because we are coming off a big loss. Rather, a steadfast black and white rule that states the what is okay and what isn't (please excuse my ignorance if this rule exists, I just haven't seen it posted yet.)

We are sending players that don’t make our 2s at Coorparoo to Moorooka and they have been played in the seniors.

So everyone bagging Park Ridge and at least 5 other clubs doing the same.

I have no problems with it as we give back to QAFL with our better younger players so it’s a fair return in my opinion.

Vic Lad aren’t you from Moorooka? Slammed us for doing what your club has been doing for years?

Permitted players cannot play finals so if you using to get there I think you will get found out once finals arrive.
