You would like to think even just a short email to state this though Outa. Something along the lines of Plan A, Plan B, Plan C depending on the length of the lockdown. The problem that HQ always has is that they are trying to please a whole lot of parties. Which they just can't.

Well got the short email.
GF dates won't be changed.
They will update clubs as things evolve.
If it needs to be play Saturday and then Wednesday nite could be a plan.
Will make it survival of the fittest but better than nothing or clubs not playing at all.
But we have untill next Thursday before any decision has to be made.
So hopefully we are out of lockdown and all this is mute.
I'm still backing them to come up with something other than nothing.
Stay positive lads.
Where there is a will there is a way.

Easier to push everything back by a week or two than play midweek games.

Don’t expect mid weeks games and don’t expect a rabbit pulled from a hat.

Expect truncated series and changes made with no input.

Unless they have some intel that none of us know about that this lockdown is going t be extended for another 2 weeks or more? Seems weird to call it so early

AFLq usually get first hand advice from health officials so you’d think getting ready for finals means there’s at least some optimism the hard lockdown ends Sunday. Safe to say it’ll be a fair while before things are back to normal but touch wood, there’s yet to be an outbreak in community sport since this started, surely we go back to August last year with reduced gatherings etc but still good to play footy

Everything sounds positive but that can change in the blink of an eye. I suppose we will all know Sunday 🙏🏼

Wonder if AFLQ will look at fee reduction due to cancellation of games?

Represents a 12.5% reduction in season?

Grounds surely wouldn't be an issue for not extending the season. A bunch of grounds with no cricket mention before, and Redcliffe even has two grounds to choose from.

You might have a case for reduced umpire fees the rest is the cost of doing business in these times.
I feel for the clubs that had sponsor and special days organised for the last two games. That's would really hurt them.

Think they either wipe season or push back finals? But just some consultation would be good.

if it’s a vote and the majority is for final 2 to play off I probably have no issues as both teams deserving of at least a finish to season.

But would be nice for Presidentsto have some say or input into rational as to why season can’t go back 2 weeks.

Surely a zoom meeting to get an outcome later this week once all cards on table. We are key stakeholders after all and do contribute financially, so deserve some say in matter.

2 week finals series work?
1v4 and 2v3 in both senior and reserves grade. Winners play grand final.

Feel a bit sorry for the 2s comp in a way - seems to be pretty close for the whole top 8 and perhaps some sides in that lower part of the 8 probably won't get there chance.

Whatever the format (if indeed one) will be really hard for all sides coming back into footy at a intense level after a few weeks break.

They don't have that many choices.
You can either extend the season by two weeks or you have to start dropping teams out. Clubs have lost enough over the last two years to pull the pin for the sake of 14 days. It would be a real kick in the guts especially those who were going to host. Not sure what the reasons for not extending bit they would need to be huge to get it past the pub test.
So we wait some more.

The ressies comp got destroyed by putting grand final teams in it for the past 2 years from higher divisions anyway. Same could be said for the seniors . The top 8 is teams from the old div 2 .

It's not a great situation but for whatever reason (and surely they have to state why) the AFLQ aren't going to extend the season. The top 4 teams in this comp are clearly the best 4 teams and there are teams in positions 5-8 that are purely there because of the cancellation of the last two rounds. 1v4 and 2v3 with winners into GF and losers out would probably a fitting end to a COVID compromised year. There is also the real possibility that the community sport ban could run for a few more weeks yet....

Just think you’re making sweeping statements not based on fact necessarily. Guess you’re advocating a Div 3 daytime comp for those clubs that can’t drag themselves out of the mire?

So you you think this 15 team comp is a success with the top 8 with most clubs coming from higher comps ?
Simple answer is it's failed.
Just go back to div 1 2 and 3 and possibly gold coast comp depending on numbers.
Promotion on a performance base and request of said club. If you want qld footy to grow give clubs the chance to do so. You will also have to factor covid into next year's draw.
