Will be interesting to see how it pans out then. They are a proud club with a club legend in charge so i am sure they will put numbers on the park
With the Facebook post and and what you just said some new facility's.
I'm backing them in and go even better in 2023.
It's December and some training nites it was 34 in the day. Could have had many clubs with low numbers. It's just no one brings it up. I've always worked on theory you get a real look at what you have at the end of Feb early March.

Good point outandabout is there a deadline that AFLQ put on clubs to show numbers before the season kicks off? I guess its a fine line between waiting till march for more to show, if the 3 people attendance is true, and making the decision to stay in Saturday footy or move to Friday night. Is there any financial penalty AFLQ apply to clubs if you leave that decision too late or can you move to Friday night footy a week out from the season kicking off if you cant get numbers?

Don't know the answer to that question but I assume a deadline. But if you have had 40 different blokes turn up so far to training could only be once or twice your going to be ok. You can guarantee the rest will be there around the end of January. Some twos boys think Feb is a good time to rock up. Obviously the clubs who play finals constantly have early competition for spots and better numbers. Just my take on preseasons at this level.

I don't believe there to be any sort of deadline if you're an incumbent team.

Think showing numbers by a certain date mainly refers to entering a new team.

Though I'm sure footy ops might notice come mid Feb if you only have 10 registered and start making a few enquiries.

Ok that's not good for them at least there's time for them to regroup.
Im not sure there is a lot of time, Christmas is here next week then new years the week after. Before we know it it will be mid Jan and practise games will be 5 weeks away given, like Still Me said, it is likely an early start to the season. Hopefully they get numbers though.

Yes we are. Gave is a good crack but here we are looking forward to this season.
Good to see Mac. At the end of the day the last thing we want is footy clubs going backwards or dropping out of competitions.

Although Beenleigh and Moreton have done well going to Div 1 from Div 2 in recent years it’s a big step and lot of clubs have failed, hence why we were in no position to take the step in 2019.

Hopefully Wynnum and league have learnt a bit more from it and there is more checks in place to allow this in the future.

We all know how hard it is to get players motivated at this level pre Christmas but to find 40+ players just to field 2 sides is big ask.

Again not sure how some clubs are situated but why can’t teams field just a senior side and no Ressies similar to Friday night in Saturday competition. If we all know there is a bye against certain clubs in twos I have no problems. I think it actually opens up some good opportunities to play just seniors one weekend as you could do a Friday night game, Saturday twilight or Sunday game?

Gives you some flexibility. I know it might have some revenue issues for home games but not sure it’s that big a drama.

Would help clubs like Wynnum and Moorooka get on their feet if they needed to get Ressies sorted for future. Plus might transition some teams instead of Friday Night just continuing to grow.

If we don’t think outside square our competitions will continue to keep changing and chopping every year with no stability.

And for those clubs with women’s teams it allows for a bit more sensible fixturing playing as a curtain raiser to seniors

Yes it is especially if clubs keep making the same mistakes.
Even at QAFL Level Clubs have come and gone. So it will always happen at Community level.

League seem happy enough for it to continually happen. Probably because they are under staffed as well.

It’s hard as there is a lot of proud clubs that don’t want to let go either. I think that with a lot of clubs in close proximity it is getting harder every year fishing in same pond.

With barry Gibson gone, there might be a chance for a single team Saturday comp.

Already with this Wynnum decision, seems some common sense as returned to HQ in the post gibson era.

Mate it's been hard for years and as you say who's going to start thinking outside the box.

I think we are being a bit hard on Barry here, wouldn't have been an easy job. Every club is different and has different challenges, no doubt the bloke did his best. No guarantee the next bloke will be better.
Not having a go at the man. Just hopeing that they use more common sence from now on. With regards to club situations finals venues and so on.
It's the best way forward.

Good point... in other news hearing Moorooka have notified the league of their intention to go to Friday nights given they have had 3-5 at training in the pre Christmas part of the season. Probably a good move.

That's a shame they really took steps forward last season. But if what you say is true they are still 25 players short for one team.
