don't they still have them, but you're told whats happening, as opposed to being consulted? Then they point to a survey result nobody knew about?

Surely they haven't really ditched grading in youth footy?
It was a 14 game season plus finals with two grading games before the season started. It’s now 14 games total, with first 4 rounds grading games but points count towards the ladder. To prevent teams throwing grading games apparently.

Used to be 14 Rounds + 3 weeks of grading, and in that grading you usually played at least 2 shortened games to give you a good idea where you sit.

Changing rules to stop people being dickheads, does not stop them being dickheads - they always find a way.

All it does is ruin it for everyone else. We now get 3 weeks less footy for the kids, grading is a lottery and if you do want to arrange your own games, you now have to pay extra for them. Another year, another reduction in the services you get from AFLQ, but without a change in what you pay them....

Having 4 out of 14 rounds as grading is mind bogglingly dumb if it counts towards ladders. Hardly playing for sheepstations, but if you nominate Div 3 for example, win big and are 4-0 with huge % and get moved to Div2 straight to top of ladder, with only 10 rounds left, only need to win 3 or of 10 and you're off to the finals.

Thommo thanks for the info I might put out Div 1 u13s in Div 2 for the first few weeks lol 😂

Let’s be honest juniors should be 16 games plus finals.

You joke but there are plenty of peanut clubs who would rather their teams win a Div 3 flag and win by 40+ every week than go in Div 2 and be challenged each week and finish mid table.
100% - in fact happens far too regularly hence like a lot of things legislation for dills. Can only blame those who have chosen to do it and clubs who allow it to occur under their watch. Really sad.

And mainly done by geography rather than grading, if only to look after the parents of those who aren't licence eligible yet. Not entirely sure of the earliest game times given the different days they're played compared to country areas where it's all a single day for those above U11/12, but regardless of relative ability of a team or individuals it's not an easy task to travel from one end of the area potentially to the other having to get up pre-dawn just to have kids arrive an hour before the game to do similar warm up duration (as opposed to content) to what senior players do. Then pretty much depart 10 minutes post match which happens more and more thanks to 2020 regulations thinking that they're supposed to be followed (no showers post game), meaning the travel is often substantially longer than the actual game time (13's for example are 12 minute quarters with 3/8/4 breaks).

Some of the calls hero coaches, clubs and parents make for youth kids is mind boggling. Kids changing clubs at 14-15 for “pathways” because they have spent 5 minutes in an academy squad. Clubs trying to win Div 3 flags, parents thinking their little fella will be drafted at 12 because they can kick a drop punt.. peanuts

Some of the grading games I saw last year were embarrassing. Whether it was tanking, covid or something else. Clubs were not grading properly whatsoever. I think clubs intentionally put teams directly above each other so there other team can’t go up a grade either. Something needed to change.

And there in lies HQ rationale no doubt. If you are going to play with the system then we will remove the system. Bloody sad when supposed adults go down this track.

Hearing both Yeronga and Kenmore have recruited well. Alex Hills added to last years list so definitely one of the teams to beat.

Sandgate been quiet but they always have good kids coming through and players returning so still the team to beat for mine.

Redcliffe might be smokies.
Come on Collar, you boys have the biggest wallet and best coach in the business. Surely the pirates will be there or thereabouts.

Not meaning it in any negative way either, what you do for that club is amazing.

Andy keeps his thoughts about pirates close to home. Fair enough but pirates have always been there abouts and only a couple of top end players away from really challenging. Sandgate and Alex are hardend teams and you know exactly what you have to do if you want to beat them.
If Kenmore have kept and added to the list then they go up a notch as well. Redcliffe have been building a side for a couple of years now and like pirates they are only a couple of top enders away as well.
Yeronga if true will be much better but they are starting from a couple of blocks back so will need to be up and about early. Wynumm had a year away and if they have lost more than they have gained they will still be competivie but unknown at this stage. Gympie ones no easybeats expect them to win a few.
Jindalee needed a few to really compete week in week out but expect them to rattle a few on there day.

We have very young list mate and lost Sulky, Chez, Peck, Thompson and Wheelan from last years side.

We have recruited ok but losing that amount of experience puts us back a bit I would think.

You right with coach, Tommy along with Chopper and Bandit have been awesome for our group.

I think next year moving to new venue could be big turning point for us as a club.

Hopefully we punching around top 4 as I think it’s only a top 4 this year with 10 sides or will it be too 6 still?

I need to check on that?

Probably need to advise where you living mate as clubs spread far and wide. I’m sure you would be welcome at most clubs.

I’m involved at Park Ridge we still welcoming new players.
