QFA Div 2

Park ridge in a north comp with Gympie and Nambour makes no sense 🤷🏻‍♂️

If Coomera pulled out of South competition our closest game is Carrara? That's depending on Beenleigh and Kenmore where they end up obviously.

The end of day we can get to Kedron quicker than we can to Carrara. Clubs choice and we feel it's a better fit both coming back into 2 Team Competition and logically.

That’s why it should stay the same as it is now. That way you’re coming back into div 3. Only Gold Coast teams will want to be in the south comp . Because of the northern rivers sides !

You wouldn't want to live Inner Southern Brisbane, or in the case of 3-4 Park Ridge lads live north of Brisbane river and have to head to Lismore region 4 times a year being in South. Is there enough clubs for 3 zones?

They just need to a scrap calling anything “north” or “south” comps, call it “Conference Delta” or something stupid like that.

Ironic that the Pirates are being allowed to choose what comp they are in a year after being forced out of div 2 and into div 4.

The best thing is, if your club is unhappy with what comp it lands in, you will only have to wait two years for the next complete revamp from the league.

Maybe change it to the NFC and AFC and they play off for the super bowl ! How good would that be !!!

If it was the old format, the league would only allow us to come back into competition in Div 3 anyway.

With the new format we are happier as Club including all the players to play Northside Teams as if you have ever tried to head down Gold Coast on a Saturday around midday the traffic is still horrendous.

Kedron, Moreton, Pine Rivers etc all within 50 minutes of Park Ridge and a lot closer for some of our current playing group, so it was a no brainier.

TBH even going from SC to Springwood is much easier than getting to Mayne or UQ. It is really only a 70min drive vs 90min to St Lucia or Yeronga. I reckon Coomera will be the only side wanting to play in the south group.
In the end there is always going to be travel and I don't envy the AFLQ trying to appease every clubs vested interests and at the same time grow the game. They would love to have 2-3 more sides in the Nth Rivers area to have their own comp I'm sure. Same with SC - enough clubs to sustain a comp of relatively even standard. The GC and even Bris could do this simply bc of the greater population - but then the game doesn't grow.

Gympie is just up the road 😂

The current system seems great as it is. This North/South thing is BS, especially considering North comp is effectively Div 3. Kenmore could easily play in the North Comp but after making a semi in Div 2 they'd essentially be dropping down. It's really no change except for the fact Northern Rivers are joining Div 2...which will probably make it even more lopsided as Ballina/Byron are the only two teams that seem competitive.

Look at all the results this year in Div 1, 2 and 3. Only one club from each division (Burleigh, Coomera, Pine Rivers) struggled more than others. I reckon it was the most evenly balanced and sensible competition we've had in SEQ footy in years.

Kenmore’s ressies beat pine rivers almost full strength side in a trial game! Kenmore would whoop everyone except Moreton bay you’d assume . That’s why it needs to stay the way it is now !

The south comp is going to have some active recruiting.
Cooly, Bond, Robina, Burleigh, Carrara and the NSW teams all in the same Div.
Would have to think Bond will dominate again.

You would presume so cos they do have allot of attraction points but not many are local and when the players whom attend uni finish their course they tend to return home.
You would hope a couple of them to better themselves by having a crack at a QAFL club, their young FF is worthy of a go QAFL?

if you're spending $40k on players at this level you've got priorities way out of whack

If you’ve got the money to do it and you spend it in the right way, keeping in mind this is total footy department spend, why shouldn’t you. Attract the top end talent and reward your locals. Targeted sustained success brings about more success. Yes you can do it wrong but if done right you can gain that back and more. In a hotly contested market if my company has a choice of several teams one of which is hugely successful and has good club culture which one do you think I’m going to chose to give my $$$ to. To flat out say you shouldn’t do it is both ignorant and short sighted. Now saying clubs should be careful spending $40k at this level and make sure they have their priorities right is probably closer to the mark

if its just on players, itzs crazy

if its on footy department spend, then thats reasonable

$5-10k coach
$5-10k physio/S&C

$15-25k match payments

Probably 2 or 3 QAFL clubs not spending more than $40k on matchies
