Anyone know of any new Div 3 teams that are being added to the comps besides Burleigh for gold coasy and Pomona for Sunny coast

That’s like with Pac Pines leaving the comp too, that comp will only have six teams then will be seven with Burleigh coming into it

I’m not sure why you think there is any planning at this level to even up competition. QAFL has 13 teams and Div 1 has 7 teams and there is no signs of movement there.

Unsure if aflq like to make decisions.

Yeronga in qaflw, No wins in 3 seasons

Still no talk of them being moved down a division to become more competitive.

yeah, its genuinely amazing. So much talk about Mt Gravatt, but Yeronga are diabolical in comparison.

Yeronga have got Rhan Hooper co-coaching and are trying pretty hard off field to stay in qaflw. Broadbeach are definitely coming into the comp in 2026 so unless something changes qaflw will become an 11 team comp

I’m told the junior club have $500k in the bank and they’re bank rolling the retention of the QAFLW status. Having a monopoly on youth Grand Finals for a decade must pay dividends.

If a junior club has a lazy $500k sitting around, you would think they might invest some of that back into their junior club - if they did that effectively, they might find their senior club goes a bit better than it does - rather than spend $15k on a singple player who might move the needle from a 150 point loss to a 120 point loss, or a footy director on $50k that does nothing to your on-field performance.

Yeronga just advertised for a playing assist coach in the women’s team. Pay on offer bn $10-15k !!
Saw that and I must say that's good money for one person.
Dare say they will get flooded with applications.
Not sure how many games there are but if it works out to about 700 a game .
That would be close to the highest payed player in any comp.

I don’t disagree but the criticism is they weren’t going anywhere and now they're at least putting their money where their mouth is. It’ll be an interesting watch.

It would want to be clearly the highest paid players fee for the standards of footy being delivered FM
Might have got my maths off .
If they get the whole 15k it's 935 a game .
Has to be close to the highest in men's or women's.
Surely they are taking the piss.

Is the half price loophole still available if you are an assistant coach.
Don't mean to sound so harsh but Yeronga in the qaflw is a genuine embarrassment.

Considering how the women's game is played, smashing of 200+ is just incomprehensible, and their losses of 249-7 and 219 - 0 should be records in their own sense.

They scored 13 goals all season, not even averaging a goal a game.

Their reserves went SCORELESS in 10/14 games (other games included scores of 2,6,7,14)
And they forfeited two games in state league footy.

Its not harsh if you back it up with facts.

What’s the salary cap for qwafl?
As mentioned the salary cap is $25k in QAFLW, however, some clubs are clearly being "creative" with what they doing. Sign on fees, paid player registrations on top of player payments. My understanding is that Aspley was close to the cap in 2025 yet they have brought in more than a dozen new recruits already for next season. I've been told that they are paying a 15yo $40 a game to leave her current club plus paying their reserves players. Can't see how this all fits into the current criteria.

Over the last 3 seasons they have averaged under 12 points per game in that time. That can't be good for their player development at all.

Say you're an up and coming key forward ageing out of youth, would you stay to get one maybe 2 chances per game to score at yeronga or go elsewhere for more of a challenge.

Sherwood up and Yeronga down looks the smart move

It's not even comparable to Mt Gravatt in my opinion

Even since their seniors hit the skids, the club has never forfeited a game across seniors, reserves, or colts.

Forfeiting games should be the nail in the coffin, it shows you don't even have the number of players required to fill two teams.

The significant difference of course is that you’re trying to straight compare the women’s & men’s game. The women’s game is still fast evolving and the heavy expansion of clubs at both AFLW & QAFLW has diluted the standard despite the giant leaps their game has taken in just the last few years.

Another difference is of course that Mt Gravatt was provided a 2 year QAFL licence before the 2025 season with re-evaluation at next seasons end. You’d hope they get improvement and even a win or two in 2026. But their season ahead is guaranteed.

Yeronga women’s on the other hand have had the comp managers demanding during 2025 & to this day that they self select out of QAFLW for 2026. As I understand it’s got real ugly between club & association, and the club is standing its ground & saying no.

So absolutely no doubt Yeronga women’s is in a perilous position, I agree, but if I were you I’d be hoping Yeronga win their battle so you’ll have a precedent for the Vultures at end 2026, just in case.

If Mt Gravatt does not win a game this year, everyone agrees they should be out.

Personally, I don't think they did enough in the offseason of 2024-2025 to regain a license in the QAFL for two years, and the club should have been demanded much more by AFLQ in regards to list capabilities - treated just as Yeronga QAFLW was.

I do agree it is a little bit unfair how Yeronga has been treated more harshly, but I have never seen a club as out of place as yeronga is.
