Hello, friendly Western Bulldogs Board people. My name is Ant Bear, and I am promoting the game of Qooty, as played on the SFA board of BigFooty. Your awesome moderators Mike__, Ant_ and Mofra have kindly granted permission for us to challenge the Western Bulldogs Board to a game of Qooty next Monday, January 29 2018.
What's Qooty?
Qooty is a football simulation program written by BigFooty's own Mobbenfuhrer, which allows a game of footy to be simulated and generated in text form. Basically, your username is entered into the program, along with 19 team-mates and an opposition of 20, and the program generates a game, with commentary and stats like this:
4 : 2.32 {lW} - The ball is now with TheCoach16.
4 : 2.35 {lW} - Draws a man and then with hands to KohPhi.
4 : 2.38 {lW} - That's a massive kick from KohPhi.
4 : 2.42 {lW} - It could be a goal. It is a goal.

Baghdad Bombers : 18.11.119
4 : 2.46 {C} - KohPhi times his jump well and wins the tap.
4 : 2.54 {rW} - The bounce favours HumanMeatball and he is off and running.
4 : 2.57 {rW} - Keg on legs rides HumanMeatball into the ground.
4 : 3.01 {rW} - Taking the ball is Agent93.
4 : 3.05 {rW} - Agent93 runs into TheCoach16 and is getting up very slowly.
4 : 3.09 {C} - Not enough pressure on Tony Lynn 15.
4 : 3.11 {C} - Tony Lynn 15 blazes away at goal.
4 : 3.15 {C} - Tony Lynn 15 gives some to the crowd after that goal.

The 4 signifies the 4th quarter; the 2.32 is the time elapsed, and the {lW} is ground position (left wing). At the end of the game, a stats sheet is posted so everyone can brag about their performance:

The Sweet Football Assosciation is a board on BigFooty. 12 teams, which originally began mostly as club board representative teams but have long since hybridised and merged into teams of mixed loyalties, play two 16/17 game seasons every year, followed by finals, team and league awards presentations and much fun and banter. AFL allegiances are left at the door; people from different origins work together harmoniously - Port/Adelaide supporters, Richmond/Carlton supporters, Collingwood/Carlton fans - they work and play together, and many people put in amazing efforts to keep the board entertained. It's all about fun and banter, based on the SFA team you play for, not the AFL team you support. The SFA began in 2001, and has now been running for 24 seasons. There is much history, and career stats are a treasured source of banter.

What do you need to do?
Simply sign up to represent the Western Bulldogs Board by saying "in" or some other form of acceptance in this thread. You don't need to do anything else, although the attraction about the game is bantering with the opposition team in the lead-up to the game: things like "You're the worst CHF in the history of Qooty"; "I'm gonna run through you so hard, they'll need a spatula to pick you up" etc. Skills like posting gifs and memes are also attractive; basically, it's all about having fun and interacting with people from other boards in a friendly manner on neutral terms.

As you can see, people from all club boards come together, in a world where AFL rivalries don't exist, and we comprise 12 fantasy teams who play 2 seasons/year for glory and badges.
The TL;DR version.
The matches are decided by a random text simulator called Qooty.
The matches play out entirely randomly. The simulator produces a text transcript of commentary, provides statistics, and maintains a season. Results are determined entirely by the random number generating functions of a computer.
SO what do I need you to do?
All I need from you is just to say that you're interested in playing by posting in this thread. We need 20 players. If we don't get this, any name can be entered into the program, and Doug Hawkins, Chris Grant or Ted Whitten may join you.
DO I have to do anything?
You will not need to do anything (except call your opponent names )
WHO wants to play a stupid fantasy game?
Over 260 people each season play in just our league. We couldn't care less if you think it's childish.
If you wish to live vicariously through your username, or relive the glory days of your youth, come try it - it may be for you!

You'll be playing a representative team from the Sweet F.A. Despite their myriad of achievements, their performance is as much at the mercy of the randomness of the sim as yours is.
What if I want more Qooty?
After the game on Monday, if you enjoyed the week and want more, then please post your interest in this thread, and a captain or representative from a club that is searching for players will contact you. You will likely get several offers: it is entirely your choice as to which team you join. A new season will be starting in the next few weeks; it is an ideal time to join up.
So if you want to have a game of Qooty against a representative side from the Sweet FA who will show you how it's played, then put your name down and we will answer any questions that you have for us!
