Well so are marks and the possesions obtained from those marks then?

Still has to kick the goals.

listen im not getting technical on this,because there is no such thing as a quadriple double in Aussie Rules.I was for arguments sake trying to compare it to basketball.Therefore I came up with

Rebounds=Mark

Handballs=assists

Points=Kicks

Tackles=Steals or blocks

Agree. Tackles (either steals or blocks) has to be included. That is what makes the Quad Double hard. (and yet possible for most players, unlike goals)

Hmmm...

Lenny Hayes R15 this year and R8 last year missed out by 2 marks

Brad Sewell went very close against Carlton.

14 kicks
19 Handballs
11 Marks
9 Tackles

Yeah fair enough.

If there was though I'd say goals would have to be in there.
Maybe just as a fifth one even and you could count any of the five.

I've always said they need 2 start stating "Goal Assists" for years....

And Triple Doubles with either 3 of the next 4....

10 Marks, 10Kicks, 10 Handballs or 10 Tackles

10 goals should be included.....cause it gives the forwards a chance at a triple or qaudruple.....10 tackles for a forward line player.....would be very rare.....

But then Matty Robbins made a career out of gettin heaps of tackles in the forward line!!!

But the most likely players to get this would have to be Jimmy Bartel or Lenny Hayes.....when it comes to the above mentioned.....at their best.....they do it all.....think Lenny had 12 tackles on the weekend.....nice job!!!

START STATTING THESE "AFL"

IT SHOW'S PLAYERS WITH DIVERSITY!!!

The first person to do it should get a prize or something. Getting the 10 marks and 10 tackles in a game means the player has to be very versatile.

In the one game of his career to date that he did take more than 10 marks, Judd went quite close - 16 kicks, 11 marks, 9 tackles, and 7 handballs. Plus 3 goals.

I think the fact that Judd takes very few marks (about 2.5 a game), yet is still one of the best midfielders of recent times highlights just how irrelevant the mark stat is when comparing midfielders (except for contested marks or marks inside 50). It doesn't really matter whether they're getting their possessions from marks or hard-ball gets, etc (both are useful in different ways), so long as they are racking up useful possessions.

With regard to the quad-double I think that it would be more meaningful to have a "triple-double" which entails three of the following (and a quad-double which includes four. And hypothetically a quintuple-double, which probably no one would ever get :)):

20 or more possies
20 or more hitouts
10 or more marks
10 or more tackles
5 or more goals

(although I understand that this contradicts the purpose of the name - i.e., double-figures = 10)

Basketball references and americanisms on Bigfooty....wonderful.

There's no rule to say people here should parrot such stupid and contradictory terms for stats. If u believe it is something relevant to our game then call it something relevant to our game.

Close efforts:

Daniel Harris - Rd 3 2007 - 11 kicks, 18 handballs, 7 marks, 15 tackles

Lenny Hayes - Rd 6 2004 - 16 kicks, 12 handballs, 7 marks, 11 tackles
Lenny Hayes - Rd 7 2006 - 14 kicks, 11 handballs, 8 marks, 10 tackles
Lenny Hayes - Rd 15 2007 - 17 kicks, 15 handballs, 8 marks, 10 tackles

Tyson Stenglein - Rd 22 2006 - 17 kicks, 12 handballs, 10 marks, 9 tackles

Aaron Hamill - Rd 6 2003 - 14 kicks, 10 handballs, 9 marks, 8 tackles

Paul Licuria - Rd 1 2004 - 16 kicks, 10 handballs, 11 marks, 8 tackles

Shane O'Bree - Rd 6 2004 - 26 kicks, 12 handballs, 8 marks, 8 tackles

Mark Coughlan - Rd 14 2003 - 10 kicks, 14 handballs, 9 marks, 8 tackles

It'd be a difficult stat to accumulate, because you need to both be finding plenty of the footy, to get yourself 20 disposals, as well as having your opponent finding the footy, so you can get the tackles. You also need to be able to get away from your man to take the marks, as well as being near him for the tackles. Still, the stats show that if anyone is going to do it, it's going to be Lenny Hayes.
