Today I found the following on AFL Tables. You have to go to the last category near the bottom of the page

12 or more of four different stats

They have kicks, marks, handballs, goals, behinds, hit outs, tackles, frees for and frees against.

So unlike the quadruple double we are after in this thread, this AFL Tables list of approx 40 examples is dominated by ruckmen from the 70's, 80's and 90's because of the hit outs and all bar 1 of them achieved the 4 bolded categories above.

Maybe we can convince Paul from AFL Tables to keep this thread's quadruple doubles stats for those who have achieved it and the near misses.

2 ruckmen from this century make it David Hille from 2010, and last year Tristan Xerri only had 3 marks but made 12 tackles.

Bit weird with the 12 cut-off too, but I guess that's to stop it getting too large - last time I looked up ruckmen with 10+ HOs as part of it, there were ten quadruple doubles and that was six years ago. Stef Martin and Dean Cox had four and three, and then Gawn, Grundy and Nankervis had one a piece - that would no doubtedly have increased since then, given all have continued to play at a high level.

Sturt's Rick Davies dominated the 1976 SANFL GF v Port and would have won the Jack Oatey medal that day if it was invented back then.

He had 21 kicks, 21 handballs, 15 marks and 21 hit outs. Rick never did much tackling in his career. Then again a double digit tackling effort was very rare in the 1970's for any player.

Along with Ablett's 1989 GF and Simon Black's 2003 GF, its the most dominate display I have seen in a GF and hard to think that all 3 played a better game in their career, given the pressures of a GF.
