Poorly thought out award, shouldn’t exist if they can’t get it right. It's only been handed out since 2016 and two of the four times have gone to a player on a team that didn't win the flag. I doubt winning it is any consolation to those players. They want to win a premiership, not some individual honour. I really don't think the calculation method is that important, or that any player that missed out by a vote like that scenario would care if they were a premiership player.

A fairer calculation method would be (a) sum of scores from finals games played divided by number of finals games played and (b) must have played at least two finals games (to eliminate player who played just once and got a very high score - award should reward consistency).Yeah, probably. AFL does like to hand out awards though but really at that end of the season there's only one award that matters.

So funny - what triggered this?

I find this Gary Ayes Medal a bit irrelevant really. At the end of the day, the best team effort will win the Grand Final. Richmond has won 2 out of 3 flags by having an even contribution across the board. We do the same in the next 2 games & I reckon we are a very good chance to be holding up the silverware.Best way would be add multipliers.
Something like:
Prioritises making it through each week. Theoretically a team playing all four weeks will get a bonus but it's only 20% instead of 33% more.
- 1x for the first two weeks.
- 2x or more for the prelim week and GF.
I think the discussion is about an unfair voting system for the award whether it’s irrelevant or notI find this Gary Ayes Medal a bit irrelevant really. Just adding another dimension to the discussion is all.I think the discussion is about an unfair voting system for the award whether it’s irrelevant or not
Prestia said Brisbane “got MOST of their shots from frees and 50 metre penalties”..I think Fagan should bring this up if we meet them in the GF If even the players are saying it.

The utter contempt Richmond and the media have shown for Brisbane after the win is delicious. I’m happy for them to write us off or feel like they were robbed than be all over us like a rash. Bring it on.
Just had a quick look at the Richmond board. They are not all bad over there but they have a few who are totally clueless. Like the guy who said the Lions got away with murder the other night and were sniping Tigers players all night and that umpires turned a blind eye to it.
The guy must have short memory loss. Someone needs to remind him about old Tommy Lynch sniping blokes every week. Guess that was fine. He even tried to say big O was at fault for the Shai Bolton 50 when he tackled him haha. Special breed the Tigers.
