Also how many players get tackles both sides and drop the ball. Ump says fell out in tackle :(
Then they pay one 5 mins later.
Just on this point, don't think the umps were too bad on this. A little inconsistency, but isn't there always?

Dropping the ball unintentionally is allowed if you had no prior - the incorrect disposal rule is a subset of the holding the ball rule, and the no prior opportunity rule is included.

That is the problem.. leaves it up to the umpires interpretation, players are expert at making it look unintentional. Rules should be black and white as much as humanly possible, umpires are not mind readers and can not judge intention eg. no genuine attempt gives me the irrates as well.

It's a key part of the game - holding the ball is absolutely a grey area, but it needs to exist.

If you eliminate holding the ball rules, players would simply take the tackle every time they aren't 100% they can get it to a teammate.
If you keep holding the ball but eliminate prior opportunity, it punishes the player who is first to the ball. No one would go for the ball. Any loose ball would turn into a soccer game.

Not ideal, and completely agree that we need to remove as much grey as we can, but this is one we can't really shake.

I wasn't advocating for getting rid of the HTB rule.

I'd like to see getting rid of the "unintentional" ball spilling out call, it should be if you have prior and are tackled you must dispose of it correctly otherwise it's a free kick. It really shites me when the umpire calls spilled out in the tackle play on when there has been prior opportunity and it falls to their players advantage. If you haven't had prior fair enough play on.... unless there is an obvious throw.

Bored with tonight's game so thought I'd watch the replay again. Paused it to go get another bevy at just the right time. This for me sums up the night rather nicely.

To get a preview in of the grand final someone needs to photoshop lynch's elbow coming straight for Harris' head.

I agree when I was a kid playing footy if your tackled you had to kick or handball or your gone
I hate the spill out as they let 70% go and then ping 30% on some games.
Some are big moments like Dustys one in the third. Takes on Gardiner tackled does not dispose of it correctly
Spills out then slaps it away with one hand, not a handball or kick so should be dropping the ball.

Watched the saints v Tigers game.. Vlastuin touched a ball again made a big deal. Replay showed he did not.
Although went ups call for some reason
Yes you can trust defenders to tell the truth

Well, good news. Wt you're describing is the actual Incorrect Disposal rule.

Have taken Prior and it gets knocked out in a tackle? Free kick. Most times the umpires say "knocked out in the tackle", they're ruling that there has been no prior opportunity and no deliberate incorrect disposal.

We saw Mitch win a key one of these last week.

Writing an article with some classic QFs - this one popped up.

Interesting year with the amount of games in Brisbane - went along to a couple of non-Blues games including this one far as I recall. Davemonkey got me drunk at the German Club beforehand so it's a bit of a blur which game I was at :D

I initially wasn’t going to go to this as I thought we were going to get our ass handed to us by Richmond and my best mate bought last minute tickets online and dragged me there. Pretty thankful after that.

Probably the best pre game atmosphere I have ever experienced at the Gabba that night, the lead up from when the Lions ran out till bouncedown was spine tingling, lump in the throat stuff.

The sound system went down and the screaming banshee ground announcers were rendered mute and the crowd made their own atmosphere.

:think:It was that game the sound system went down wasn't it or was it another final? I doubt my memory recall these days.

The one you are thinking of was the 2019 Qualifying final.

Me either.

We coudn't hit the side of a barn with our goal kicking and they kicked absolutely everything.

On top of that , the umps piled on with soft frees galore to Richmond as well as turning a blind eye to a few blatant throws and other ridiculous decisions that cost us dearly.

Free Kicks. Brisbane 25 - Richmond 22. You were saying?

Stating that the umpires robbed the Lions without offering any objective proof is one of the dumbest things people do on bigfooty.

Do you expect a highlights package? It's just someone's opinion

Quoting free kicks is like quoting the scores and saying the goal umpires were rigging the game

Richmond play dirty. Give away stupid frees

I imagine on the Richmond board there is a well reasoned arguments and a highlights package to go alongside comments that the umpires are screwing them over?

The highlights package was posted by Zapruder.
