Has Geelong's expected side for the QF changed much since that R15 game?
They have made some changes. Based on the team they selected last weekend and bearing in mind they are selecting from basically a full list, the following are additions since Rd. 15:
Bowes, De Koning and Bews,

Nothing too terrifying there.

Guthrie, Martin and Mullin all played last time we played them. Am I missing something?

Yes they did. Thanks. I’ve edited my post. The perils of posting between meetings.

Ins Neale and Berry
Outs. Tunstill and Gallop
Sub Reville
Gee this was hard. Ty had a good game and provided excellent pressure against the Hawks but I have leaned to Day as the back up Ruck/Forward. Reville also played a great game but he is the perfect fit as Sub because of his versatility. Sam Marshall has shown signs of class and poise over the last 2 games. Watching him live you can see the excellent running patterns and creativity he brings. I think he's made for the G rotating on the wings with Fletcher and Berry.
I think we can win this game in the midfield and control play. Just think what the Cats are faced with. Neale will get the Atkins tag but after that they have to contend with Clugga,Dunks,Ashcroft X 2, Bailey. They've got us for height down back but Lester has done the job on Cameron before and Harris has kept Neale quiet after that I'm confident we can control their small forwards.
Ah Chee must shadow Stewart at the other end. We can't allow his intercept marking. It is the start of many of their scores from half back. This will be a fantastic game. Can't wait. Lions by 18.

I agree I think these will be the changes. With Neale and Berry being “must” inclusions we will be very cautious about any extra changes. But I would consider dropping Gardiner (who looks off the pace) and going a bit smaller with either McKenna or Doedee.

Great post. I might not go Doedee, but McKenna could be a smart “in” for Gardiner. It depends how well McKenna has been training.

Conor Mckenna will be playing in the VFL Elimination Final this Saturday at BHA so we'll see how he goes.

It will be of interest to see if Ty Gallop and James Tunstill play in the VFL, if not they would be certain to be selected for the AFL Qualifying Final.

IMO Tunstill will play VFL as he will be one of the outs for Berry/Neale, expecting Gallop to retain his spot in the seniors.

We already get exposed for height in our backline, swapping Gardiner for McKenna is a nightmare waiting to happen. Not to mention McKenna hasn’t been playing and is coming back off injury

Amazing how little common sense or clue some have 😂. Dropping Gardiner for Mckenna is next level clown show.

Just got our tickets for Friday's game (MCC opened at 9am). We'll be row-B on the wing - hopefully not obscured by the interchange bench!

Reminder for anyone planning to go, club members opens at 10am (in 30 minutes!!).
Be there or be square.

Dropping someone for being off the pace to bring in some who looked way off the pace in his 1 game in 2 years or another guy who hasn't played defence in 2 years is completely ridiculous

Gardiner has not looked off the pace at all. He's just a limited player at this point given his injury history.

Got some tickets.
2nd level, N1
Yooo!
Go Lions 🦁

Gallop did enough to hold his spot. Also, Morris needs some talls to take some pressure off him.
Barrass (3), Sicily (1), and Battle (0) only took 4 intercept marks between them.

I had to choose between Marshall and Reville as sub and chose Reville.
I usually don't care who is sub, but both deserve another AFL game added to their career.

I watched the replay for the first time last night.
Not sure why some on BF want Gardiner out of the side.
In my opinion Gardiner was fine. Had Gunston to mind most of the time, but defenders do defend as a team.
Gunston recent 8 games goal totals: 7, 4, 4, 3, 3, 1, 3, 7. So Gunston was in very good form.

Gunston kicked 2 goals.
One when Lester was on him. Not Lesters fault as the bullet pass was chest high with Lester right on him.
The other Gardiner attempted a tackle on a Hawks player on the boundary.
That player handballed to Gunston who kicked an around the corner goal from the boundary line.

So, Gardiner helped keep the Hawks best goal scorer this year to just 2 goals.
it is not like Gunston was great elsewhere on the ground. He had 6K (for 2G), 3HB, 2M & 1 T

We got 2nd level as well, N56.

Should be an awesome night, if it's anywhere near the drama and standard of last years Prelim it will be another classic.
Enjoy the game
I want it to be an awesome night but a solid win for the Lions.

Gardiner just signed a 1-year contract extension. He’s still better than the alternative, and hopefully with a full pre-season he’s back to his best!
