Whilst the weather looks glorious over there today, it's forecast to rain Saturday- Swans wouldn't be too unhappy with that.
Shouldn't stop us but may alter slightly who comes in?

I think with Buddy out and their depleted midfield, they'll look to rope-a-dope against us. They'll flood back and defend our inside 50s and try to get Jetta, Rohan and Heeney loose for the counter attack.

If we get stuck in a grind in our forward 50 for a quarter or two and don't take our shots, we'll lose.

I hope they put some work into Heeney

He is dangerous and has been capable of kicking 3 to 5 and has done this year

People were worried about Heeney before our game against Sydney in round 4. He finished with 3 disposals, 0 goals and 0 behinds.

Didn't he get injured in the 1st qtr?
Yep subbed off and Rohan was subbed on.

He only has to kick a goal or two to hurt us, shouldn't be taken lightly. But that'll come down to how the team plays, I don't think any special time should be put into him.

Sorry for the intrusion, but regarding the weather - Swans fans are praying the rain stays away during the game. It's not 2005 any more and the old school of thought that the Swans like the wet is long gone. We're terrible in the wet!! Tippett is surprisingly one of our best wet weather players so he'd be crucial. Good luck on Sat, hope both teams escape without any more injuries.

A wet game will be interesting as everyone seems to think that both teams are wet weather teams when in reality both are awful.

Didn't we get a few wet games earlier in the year and win most if not all of them?

Lost the Richmond one, won the rest.

But that was right around the time we were playing really badly.

Yeah we negotiated them pretty well in the end except for the Richmond game. I don't think we're some sort of "specialist" wet football team like we have been pegged with in the past under Lyon.

We just didn't show up in the first, as long as that doesn't happen on Saturday we are right in this.

Very exciting times.

Agreed.
In fact, the conditions were pretty reasonable in q1 IIRC which helped their slick and elite ball movement.
I'd be hoping we would be a few goals up by qtr time but yes avoid getting blown away early will be fine too. Boys should be fresher, and have the home crowd riding them home in second half.

If it's wet, I reckon it will be extremely low scoring. Maybe 60 points would be enough to win. I think Longmire will try to make the game as ugly as possible, and we're not exactly the side to make it non-ugly.

Normally I wouldn't mind if it was wet against Sydney, as it nullifies their strength (and our weakness) in the KPF department. Plus, Sydney are generally pretty bad in the wet, despite what people might assume. But with their personnel issues, I'd rather it was dry and we beat them on talent. A wet slog could be a big talent equaliser and result in a game like the Crows/GC matches.

Any Bars with a sat dish on 6th Street? ;)

Was still injured during the game.

No one for Sydney threatened in the first half anyway. Difficult to judge, and therefore he shouldn't be discounted.

I'm not discounting him, but he's only played 3 games against top 8 teams for a grand total of 2 goals. He's kicked more than 2 goals on only 2 occasions and those were against StKilda and GWS.

Heeney's a very good young player, but he ain't no Sonny Walters.

Well, we will have Margetts for our final this week.....

Will be interesting to see if they go with 2 rucks or just pinch-hit with the ruck given they will go with Pyke and Tippett...team selection will be tough as they will need to cover for different weather conditions..mind you, the fine isn't that much to bring someone out of the squad.
