If Geelong lose to Richmond and then have to face Sydney the following week I might be physically ill. Someone needs to do Geelong a favour and knock the Swans out.

To be honest I don't see Swans losing again for the year. Geelong's best hope is to win their final and then pray that Adelaide can knock the Swans off in a Prelim. If it were a Sydney/Geelong Grand Final, I'd still attend but, god, I'd enter the G with a feeling of abject terror.

Geelong v Richmond is as critical a Qualifying Final as you'll probably ever get.

Presuming Adelaide and Sydney win - Winner of Cats vs. Tigers will play one of GWS, Port or Dees/Eagles in a home Prelim and would be a very, very good chance of being Grand Finalists.

Loser plays Sydney in a Semi and even if they survive that will play Adelaide in Adelaide in the PF.

If adelaide lose first week they get port or 8th placed in a semi then one of the group you mention in a prelim. Avoiding sydney is the easier route to a GF. I think a GF spot goes to the winner of cats v tigers or the loser of Adelaide v GWS.

We have the path that avoids one of Adelaide or Sydney and even then its at the MCG.

Shame we have to give up our home game to Richmond but there is a reasonable chance we don't have to play Sydney though and that is a fair trade.

Exactly. The loser of that 2v3 preliminary final is up against it. I think the winner of that preliminary final will win the flag providing Sydney aren't there.
