Is it time to reduce the number of night games in Queensland?

With the humidity in Qld, it’s almost a certainty to be like a wet weather game up there in March April and May.

The game tonight between GC and Carl was awful to watch. Endless skill errors and no flow to the game.

Over the years this has been a theme to games in Qld, particularly at Metricon.

If the AFL wants to expand the game in Qld, I’d make sure they’re exposed to a lot more dry weather footy.

Normally, in Brisbane & Gold Coast, from mid April, there is usually no dew on the ground- is this correct?

If not correct, when (ie what time in the evening, & from what month) is the dew not usually a problem in Brisbane & the Gold Coast?

If there is due (or balls slippery due to rain, or the ground affected by recent rain), should we have "dimpled" leather balls, which will assist with the grip?

In early 2020, E. McGuire on Footy Classified suggested we need to remove all the painted advertising on balls, since they hindered players' ability to grip the ball; & also suggested we may need to consider dimpled leather balls.

You sure that's because of the conditions?

In any case, a game played during the heat of the day isn't likely the be much better. Between 2 and 5 yesterday the temp was over 30. Players are going to be fatigued earlier and it's terrible for spectators.

But doesn't that mean more free flowing football and higher scores. KB sure thinks so. Move footy season to summer.

So youd give up all the benefits every year to play at a neutral ground in those rare years you make a grand final?

Which stadiums meet the obvious requirement of having massive capacity for crowds ?
It’s pretty self evident that a national competition needs a spread of venues for the most important game of the season.

Agreed, but we also need to play all Melbourne games at Marvel with the roof closed.

The potential for a rainy day during winter in Melbourne is far too great and we shouldn’t be playing games outside.
