Question about Adelaide Oval

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

That bridge is a real trap after the game - bollards and oldies getting badly jostled. Adelaide City Council were asked to widen it well before construction precisely because of this problem but the idiots refused to have a bar of it - could also have been used as a performance space if it'd been designed properly. Another stupid council decision.

Perhaps if the oldies didn't stand around chatting instead of moving with the flow they wouldn't get jostled as much.

Hi I've booked flights for the Round 23 match 27th August v West Coast.
If anyone has 2 tickets available I'd be happy to purchase. Let me know please.

Also if I look at GA near score board what actual bay no's am I to look for ?
Lastly any suggestions on a good pub for eats & drinks near Airport for a late flight out on the Tuesday
Mile End Hotel is about 10mins in a cab to the airport. My local and a good pub.

The ACCC are morons, they actually wanted the bridge to be thinner (6 metres). The SMA originally requested a 12 metre width, but the ACC wouldn't budge and eventually let them build one with an 8 metre width.

The cap off the ACC's stupidity, the SMA originally asked for the land to be rezoned so that the bridge became part of the Adelaide Oval lease. The upside to the council was that the SMA would pay for the upkeep costs for the bridge and the Council would never have to pay a cent. In typical myopic fashion the ACC said no way and demanded that the council retain ownership over the bridge. Fast forward 2 years and the Council are now trying to cry poor due to having to pay to upkeep of the bridge and are trying to pass the costs onto the SMA. Sorry ACC, but you reap what you sow.

Keep in mind that Round 23 is a floating round, our game could be anywhere from Friday night to Sunday. I would say that with us and the Eagles looking likely to make the finals that the game will more than likely be Saturday afternoon, but just wanted you to be mindful of that because at worst you could organise flights only to find that the game is on where you're flying in/out.
Thanks for the heads up I wondered why no time slots were given. I've organised to fly in on Friday morning so should be okay.

Does the Cooper Ale House at the airport do meals?

However, the Hilton Hotel on Sir Donald Bradman Drive do great meals http://hilton-hotel.com.au

Yep, they sure do, just make sure you've allowed enough time. We ended up giving our uneaten meals away to the bloke on the next table because they took so long to come out and we had to make a flight.

You'd think airport eateries would know people want food quick so they don't miss flights, and let's face it, for the prices you pay at the airport, you'd expect it to be pretty quick.

Last time I ate at the Asian place at the airport, I waited 15 minutes for something they served to me straight from the Bain Marie!

Most finals will be completed by Saturday night

Nothing is set in stone with the draw this year, I heard Gil McLachlan say earlier in the year, that they are considering finishing Round 23 on Monday Night (due to the week off before the finals start), and that Adelaide Oval (Adel v WCE) would be perfect for this slot.

Aah yes. Forgot about the week off for Fre Oh wait. ;)

Another dumb move by the AFL, what's the point of a floating round 23 when there is a week before the finals :$

hey guys, I'm coming over for the thursday night game on june 23. just wondering whats the best way to get seats. ticketek site is an absolute shambles. trying to get seats in category 3, preferably any section between 133-137. Its just me and my mate going and its not allowing us to buy 2 tickets there. rang ticketek all day and no answer. getting frustrated

I sat up there last weekend (GA riverbank seats). It was a good view. We caught the first aoexpress bus and we easily got 4 seats in a row.
helps it was our lowest attendance for the season, have seen the GA up there overflowing and people getting kicked out once the ticket holders show up.

not bad up there otherwise though, although I imagine any glasses-wearers would want their prescription up to date.

sorry mate, I'll almost guarantee you that ticketek is not playing up and those sections are chocoblock full.

unfortunately you're going to have look for a spot further back I think but even then you might be limited for choice. 2 seats in a row in the big Thursday, Friday and Saturday night games are like hen's teeth if you don't get in within a few days of them going on sale to the general public.

for what it's worth I've been practically on the fence and practically on the roof in the eastern stand and it's all good viewing.

Riverbank is my preferred destination and you are right. It can be overflowing and even Sunday afternoon the prime spots behind the goals were thin on the ground. Sect: 524/525/526 fill up first because the opposition supporters get there. Sunday was a day when the Members didn't show leaving the crowd thin.

I found section 522/523 to be ok viewing and seem to fill out last. I assume the opposite side would as well. Not sure of those number sections.

I'll be taking in my debut match at Adelaide Oval on 16 July vs Collingwood. Kickoff at 7.10 pm. Best we could manage are 2 seats in section 537 - eastern wing, way up the back in the nosebleeds. Anyone know what the view is like from back there? Sun won't be an issue. I'll have my binos and radio. I expect it will be rather like level 3 at Etihad.

537 Is where I watched Travis Head come of age. Good spot. Havent watched football from there but I imagine it should be fine

So a relative has got us 2 tickets for round 23 which I am excited about coming down to AO for the game. Is there an online site that actually shows where seats and rows are located ? We're in Bay 141. Eastern Stand. Any help appreciated. I also assume this bay area maybe without cover is that correct ?
