Also have WC Wings and both Lions if you want them

Fremantle was always the location.

Initial suggestions of colours were just that - mere suggestions by the media. An interesting one was that Freo could use red and white, as the Swans were going to switch to the two-blues of NSW. I saw a mockup logo of the "Fremantle Sharks" in red and white in The Age back in the day (1993-94).

A less serious suggestion: Fremantle would be the home of a relocated Fitzroy... I saw that in a cartoon in The Sunday Age which showed proposed designs for Fremantle Pirates and Fremantle Doctors among others.

An episode of The Footy Show (in its first year, which back then featured "The Cage" containing special guests) had a collection of suggested mascots: Falcons, Pirates, Doctors, Sharks, and one person dressed as a Shitfish (after some guy's suggestion on Street Talk). (Said edition of Street Talk included one guy suggesting "Dogsharks" after South and East Freo.)

The official announcement of name and colours (for many of us in the east) came in mid 1994 (I was in Year 12 at school at the time) on TFS, featuring Mal Brown wearing this ridiculous mostly-purple tracksuit with an anchor design on it. Common reaction was: WTF is a "Docker"? But the colours were hailed as something different, as finally green graced the field.

I'm sure I remember in 1994 watching either the Footy Show or a news broadcast featuring a quick run through of some proposed jumper designs - one I remember was something like sky blue with a thin yellow diagonal cross (i.e. two thin Ess/Rich sashes, one from each shoulder) and a grey skull with a viking or pirate theme in the middle (I seem to remember it having a two-horned viking-style helmet).

This should really go in another section on BF. But I don't use the sections much at all, so I wouldn't know where to chuck it.

Anyway, my dad is buying me an AFL Silver membership for christmas. I'll be leaving home. I'll either move to Perth, or Melbourne for uni. So it'll serve me really well. But, I've some queries:

Do I get a Fremantle membership with this? I don't care about receiving a lanyard or anything, i'm just curious as to whether it's actually a Fremantle membership included, or just a pass to all Dockers games.

Do you pre-book games at Etihad/the MCG?

Question and Answer board...

But It is my belief that entry to Dockers games at Subiaco are NOT included and you do not have to book for game in Melbourne except for the big blockbusters.

Bit of a odd question boys buT somone may know the answer.
I remember being told a story years ago that in the mid 80's footscrays major sponsor/ front logo was actually sponsored by a racehorse?? Anyone know if is true ? Sounds a bit funny

No, not true.
1978-81 Pyrox
1982 KB
1983 Eastcoast Jeans
1984-86 Eastcoast
1987 Hunters
1988-89 0.05
1990-96 ICI

I guess you could check : http://www.racingvictoria.net.au/default.aspx
Do a search, it lists racehorses as far back as the early 80s, though I don't think any are going to be called .05 or KB.

I've got a question for mero (or anyone else who's knowledgable). How come from 1910 to 1922 collingwood had a blue collar and not black?

And why was it only Blue on the front and not the back?
Something to do with the screen of the guy who made the graphic.
The Dark Blue slipped through unnoticed when I changed from Carlton to Collingwood.

Now fixed.
