He was number 36 and never played for Fitzroy.
In fact, he never even played against them in the seniors.

here's the Footy Record from his finals appearance.

Mero what company made lace up jumpers?
I think there were a few different manufacturers.
There was a place in Adelaide.
I had their name a while back, but I've lost it.
I Google mapped them and it's now an electrical wholesaler or something similar.

Thankyou Mero, if you take the time to read the thread you will understand what your talking about.
Chris Elliott is my uncle who owns the Russ Hodges jumper. Take and read and it will all make sense to you, I too can surf google for player stats and numbers.

Why act condescending to people that are helping you?

I too can surf google for player stats and numbers.
Obviously not, or you wouldn't have come here.

Oh, sorry, that's a mis-understanding on my part.
When you posted this:
Hello everyone. Maybe this is where. Should be posting my question and photo.
I have a Fitzroy lace up jumper from my uncle who Played with South Melbourne. He suffers from early on set Alzheimer's so getting info can be a bit hard but his footy info is still pretty good, anyhow
It's no 17 and I'm looking for a year and possible owner/player of the 17 and a guide as to what it would be worth. He says its been sitting around with a few other jumpers for 29 years or so and would rather cash it in but I have no idea what something like this would be worth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Greg Elliott
What I thought you meant was you wanted to know whose it was and how your uncle might have come by it, given that he'd played for South, not Fitzroy.
What you really want to know is "how much can you get for it?"
You actually already knew it belonged to Russ Hodges number 17 for Fitzroy in 1978, who is your uncle's mate because you, like everyone else, can surf Google.
I imagine the answer to your actual question about value might also be open to you through surfing Google.
But then, you probably already knew that.
I humbly apologise for any confusion I might have caused.

Thanks again Mero, I think I know who my uncle is and who he played for. Appreciate you trying to tell me that I'm wrong though. If my post didn't make sense then I'd appreciate you asking me to clarify, not trying to act like a know all.
Of course he wants to know how much he can get for it, it's sat in a bag in a draw for over 20 years and he's moving into a home. I thought I made that clear when I said "how much is it worth" in the beginning.

Get some respect, mate. No one talks to Mero like that. I gave you your answer in one thread (I can't remember which one it was as you posted it in a few threads). If you want to keep talking to Mero like that, then piss off.

You want to sell it put it on auction on ebay. Simple. Then thats how much its worth.

Then of course u could sell it at leslki auctions & be charged

1. $50 to list it up for auction
2. 20% of the final sale price.

$50 + $50-$100 = $150 in fees.

Ebay it if u want

Or you could sell it to me, I pay good price*

*not really

Thankyou to those who have offered me some helpful insight both here but mainly in private. I was hoping a few more people on here would have bought and sold enough jumpers to give a good price guide so he doesn't get ripped off etc.
$250 as posted by one member appears to be a ridiculous figure so I've since learnt.
I'm just after facts and thought someone may know some people that deal a lot in items like this.
I'll continue the private conversations and keep looking for the right people.
Thanks again to those who have given helpfull info I appreciate the efforts

hahah I'm not lying. That is an extremely rare jumper. Suit yourself if you want unders for it.

For the last time. It has potential to sell for $250+.

Ease up. Everyone can believe what they want to believe. Mero is almost certainly correct, and Greg Elliot can choose whether or not he accepts Mero's opinion.

Sorry, he's just getting on my nerves... :( I gave him my opinion on what I thought the jumper would sell for, then I get no response for days, and then I come on here and criticizes Mero for some research he did for him, and then calls the figure that I gave him ridiculous.

Im not actually sure what this bloke wants. What do
You want we offered advice thats all we can
Do. If u have no idea what its worth then ask people & they tell you a rough price ( which is the right amount)
Then tell us we dont know what were talking about ur kidding yourself.

U came on here asking for help we helped but you say we have no idea & are wrong.

Go ask the other dedicated footy jumper forum in australia oh wait there isnt one.

Football jumpers are not like antiques roadshow!

I would assume he means $250 is much too low.

When you look at some of the prices achieved on ebay over the past 12 months that Fitzroy jumper could sell anywhere between $250 and $1,000. I supose it just depends which bidders are looking at it at the time of the action. Leski is as "hit and miss". Having been to quite a few Leski auctions over the past 10 years good dollars are usually only achieved if the items belonged to noteworthy players and not neccarilly if the item itself was a rarity. In this instance if the jumper had belonged to say Kevin Murray than you could expect to achieve a good result. But in reality who/was Hodges???

Thanks makri, appreciate the input and advice, i was actually given a card from a sports memorabilia store, a worker there wants me to bring it in, says if i want to get rid of it he'll pay between $500-$900 depending on the condition or if i was in no rush to get rid of it or didnt like his offer then he recommended this Leski mob, but also said it can be hit and miss there.
Very Interesting...
Might put it on ebay with "make an offer" for a while and see what comes of it before commiting to this guy.
As the jumpers arent mine, the last thing i want is my uncles family thinking ive ripped him off or sold it for unders etc

Cheers
