Mero, with all due respect, may Chris Elliott have played for Fitzroy in the reserves?
Maybe you could surf google and find that out. I'm not sure.

It's possible he could have, but then, in the years he might have, someone else was number 17.

Mero Did clubs ever sell jumpers with VFL and sponsor patches in the 70s and 80s to the supporters?

Would something like this have ever been sold to supporters:

Certainly not the lace-up jumpers, but I don't even think jumpers with sponsor logos were sold until the printed ones came out, in the mid 90s.

Jumpers with sponsors logos could certainly be purchased in the 80's, i.e. collingwood jumpers with Mini Skips on them.

Clubs would also sell the sponsor logo patches at the club shop, got s Spicers Paper patch from Vic Park in the late 80's on got my mother to stitch it on to my jumper.

Why do GWS have Canberra on the back of their jumper?

I'm not against the idea at all, but I don't understand the necessity for it.
To remind Canberra they (sort of) have a team, perhaps??

It's a thinly veiled advertisement for Canberra. They probably stipulated that they wanted a bit of a presence on the home jumper. But it seems it isn't all that thinly veiled!

Does anyone know where I can download FF Din (the font for the MCG scoreboard,) Ronnia (the main font for the AFL Record from 2009-11,) Etelka (the AFL Match Centre font from 2009-2010) and Helvetica for free?

Also, does anyone know what font is used at the 'Dome for the scoreboard?

Mero,

While you are in here and off the back off the Australian flag/colours thread.

When did the states/colonies first use their traditional colours? Where did these colours come from?

I am mindful that these would be pre-Australian colours. The Kangaroos used to wear Queensland maroon and New South Wales sky blue.

Can someone also please tell me the font used for the Swinburne Student Amenities Association logo?

Cheers.

Is this it?
To me, I'd say either an edited Helvetica or Arial. Just a rough guess, sorry.

I thought it was Downcome but someone elsewhere pretty much shut that down.

OK, so here's what I've done in the past.
First download FontForge. http://fontforge.org/
Open the pdf using Extract from pdf under Filter
Open your AFL Record downloaded from the State Library website.
It will list every font in the Footy Record.
One by one you open them, then save them.
It will save them as a .svd file
The go to
http://www.freefontconverter.com/ and convert the font to ttf.
Download that font to your Windows>Fonts directory and you're good to go.

Only one thing to remember, it is taking each font from the letters used in the pdf.
If a letter or number is not used in the pdf file, it will NOT come into your font.
So Q and X are rare unless Quentin Lynch and Xav Clarke are mentioned.

Is Font Forge free to download?

Sorry, no idea.
Not my area at all.
