Didn't know where I should post this, so I put it in here. I'm quite interested to know if AFL fans are for or against buying opposition guernseys of the players that they like. In the US, people buy NFL and NBA jerseys of the players they like, often regardless of the team they support. In Aus, we tend to be far more parochial - so it'll be quite interesting to see if there has been a shift towards the US direction as our society becomes more and more US-influenced.

I admit I own a couple of jerseys from teams I do not support, but they are because I liked the design of the jersey (I support both Anaheim and Buffalo in the NHL, but also own a Lady Liberty NY Rangers and a Nashville Predators dark blue and white alternate), not because of a player.

For any other sport unless I support the team (or have supported them) I do not buy anything from another team. When it comes to my AFL guernseys I own both Swans and Giants guernseys, but I am a Swans supporter that also has a soft spot for the Giants. I also have a Gold Coast NRL bid team jersey, but it was a piece of history rather than support of them.

Basically I support teams not players, if a player moves on to another club then they are now a rival, no matter how much they have done for my club (I may not dislike them but I would never buy anything of their from their new club).

I buy other teams jumpers and jerseys.

At home I've got:
AFL (support Norf)
- Carlton
- Gold Coast
- Adelaide

Soccer (I support Man City and Australia)
- Man Utd
- Chelsea
- Italy

I understand why people don't but I do.

It already happens a bit.

In my experience, Gold Coast shipped a few jumpers in WA and the Giants too. That's just a novelty, anti-bandwagon thing. The white Carlton jumper was pretty popular with kids in general it seemed. When I was in school, plenty of people grabbed a Richmond jumper with 32 on the back. The Ben Cousins thing got a few people into the Tiges, and some of those blokes still have them as a second team.

But we'll never see it as the norm. Not that I care. But US sport culture is all about teams. It's why franchises change names and cities so that, in 15 years, what was once the City Rats can become the Town Leopards. People are happily more attached and sincere in their club here, it's a heritage thing.

I don't actually think that long sleeved versions of that clash jumper were ever made. I seem to remember Rhyce Shaw actually wearing long black sleeves that were almost Skins-like material underneath a short sleeved guernsey, in a game at AAMI Stadium around 2003

Oh, well, First Degree (I hope Freo don't sue if we try go with one of their designs! ) and we only just started a few months ago. I've uploaded a few songs as a one-man band (without lyrics) and there's a lot of mistakes.
If anyone wants I'll post the link to my soundcloud account on here when I get home (it's blocked at my school!)

Degrees, in terms of angle measurement, can determine direction.

Far too close to One Direction for mine, Ando. If you're looking for a really good band name I suggest "One Of Us Isn't Gay".
