Yeah, you can.
Make one shape, say a circle, then make another shape where you want the parts cut out from.
Select both, then click Pathfinder box.
(Window>Pathfinder if it's not already open)
Click either the Minus Front to get rid of the top shape, or Crop to get rid of the bottom shape.
What I did was play with it a bit, so make two shapes, say a circle, then a slightly smaller square that overlaps it, then select both and try it out.
You can also do this with shapes you make using the pen tool, so you can cut out anything from an existing shape.
I'll try it if I get some time later, thanks for the tip.

hi
does anybody know the pantone colour for the orange for the perth scorchers uniforms?

This should be in the Question and Answer Thread (I know you have had one post mate but just saying)

Correct, thankyou. Merging it now. Also the fact that OP is asking for a Pantone colour means he's likely looking to print something up – be careful of copyright Bucko17

What thread was merged with this one?

If you can't find one here, try Chris Cremer's site. He has more American templates.

Who are you on there?

Actually, I think that's where the one I did is from. I basically took one and re-made it for paint...

Most of them are only tops not full kits with gloves and helmets.

I'll ask over there Thanks everyone.

I was watching a highlights DVD from Ports first season (1997) in the AFL last night. One thing I thought I noticed was the AFL logo (old one used prior to 2000) and the sponsor logos, on the Port jumpers at least, were smaller then they are these day. Is this true or is it just my eyes playing tricks? Mero you might be able to answer this for me. Thanks

In the early days of the printed jumpers the logos were embroidered, then sewn onto the jumpers.
It was only when the logos were printed on jumpers that they were standardised to a dimension printed onto the jumper.
This was around 2000.
However, the AFL logo would have been the same for each team, and would have been the same as those used on the old style jumpers.
This is pic is supposedly from 1997, and the logos look regular size to me.

Thanks Mero.

Very great work here pie_machine. Do you draw your logos yourself?
I tend to draw some parts of the logos, but mostly they're compiled from bits of existing logos. If it's not something I've made myself or an obvious recolour of an AFL logo, I'll generally say where I got it from...

This is a sensational series... would be neat to have it organized on say Mero's page as separate page/link called "Mergermania", just a thought.

Once it's done, what about doing a Merger series between AFL and NFL sides... a whole universe of combinations there.
It'd probably lead to some confusion if it were on Mero's page, with people thinking they're real jumpers and he'd get a wave of complaints...
But I do like the idea of AFL/NFL mergers!

Would love to know how to edit an existing logo.
