Still, why should a practically dead, except for the odd, I just saw this, its great comment, earn a sticky, if it has no use.

A. I have actually unsticked it because of the lack of updates.
B. It was also the most successful thread this board, and arguably BigFooty, has ever had due to the outside recognition it garnered.

Is there a guide for how to tell Kmart retail, sports store retail, club shop retail, player issued (including match worn) and fake jumpers apart? I know there is Gibbsy's work of sponsors by year and Mero's website. Are there other resources so that if someone like me who knows very little about jumpers decides to buy one, we don't get stung. As even buying from clubs can not always be a sure thing as seen in the thread with the problem of the Adelaide jumper.

Another question, has anyone else noticed that West Coast retail jumpers seem to wash awfully turning the area a light purple? I've seen this on a jumper my nephew has and have also seen it on a number of other kids jumpers. It also does not seem to happen to only one paticular years jumper. Is this a problem with only the Eagles jumpers or do other clubs have this problem also?

You weren't missing much... most people were still on Windows 3.1 at the time.
Weirldy, some things transcend the internet: Football is one of those things.

Those Eagles jumpers are decoys. They slowly disintergrate, with the middle panel becoming three chevrons.

This should be stickied, I think. Some interesting information, and it's a pity that pointless and repetitive polls take up space on the first page.

My question is whether Myer Melbourne ever sold AFL licensed gear. My old man has told me about the first time I went to Melbs. It was in '96 and he reckons a bunch of Fitzroy gear was on sale (scarves for like $3, jumpers for $10). He mentioned the basement or something. I obviously can't remember as I was a toddler, but what was their connection to footy like?

During the mid 90's Myer Melb had an awsome sports dpt. AFL, soccer, basketball, massive range of sneakers, etc. Was the only play that you could get the re-enactment replica in 1996

The above ad is from a footy record in 1996, and specifically mentions Myer Melb.

Wool wicks away sweat? Well I'll be damned....

I do vaguely recall some Sekem "Get it on" advertisements

Sportwool was a great Australian innovation developed by the CSIRO. Soon after the initial take up by Sekem Sportwool was used in Aussie cricket team's PI apparel (both ISC and Fila used Sportwool) and used to kit out many of the Australian athletes in their various sports at 1998 Commonwealth Games. The big coup for the brand coming in 2000 when Umbro used Sportwool to kit out Manchester United as well as many other their other other clubs. (I think only Sportwool united replicas produced). More recently Bont used Sportwool in their PI jumper produced for North Melb.

Very interesting. I remember a friend had this shirt, and I always thought the material was cool. It wasn't heavy or anything, either.

A question for people who have used AFL Auctions: What exactly is a 'Player Edition' guernsey?

Ordinarily, I'd just take it to mean 'Player Issue', but a guy on the Geelong board has said that he won an auction and the guernsey he received didn't have a sublimated number, just a pressed on one. I'm not sure if the Geelong example was listed as a 'Player Edition', but it did grab my interest, because the PE I'm looking at only has a $50 reserve (seems low) and doesn't specifically say that the number is sublimated (as all other PI and MWs that I've seen do). It has this info:

2012 Player Edition Away Guernsey

Includes official certificate of authenticity

Please note this Guernsey is unsigned and may have been worn

If it's not a PI, what would the COA be for?

Yeah...not sure. These ones are specifying particular players.

Realistically, it'd have to have a number (subbed or stuck) if they're naming a player. Nothing to stop it being just another name for Player Issue, I suppose.

Mero, why did Norf change their jumper three times in 1995?
They started the season with the old style acrylic footy jumpers, which they'd worn since the 80s.
Then in Round 8 they got a shipment of very thin Blue & White striped polyester printed jobs.
These were obviously not suitable so the next week they again turned out in polyester printed jumpers, but by now the stripes were closer to what they had been wearing for 15 years. White jumper, three wide Blue stripes.
