Mero have watermarks ever gone over numbers and logos?
Not that I know of.
But it's possible, depending on the printer they use.
Some print on the material and they have a roller that leaves the imprint in the material.
On those it could hit anywhere on the material.
On others the watermark is printed as part of the design, in which case you wouldn't think it would be on the logos or numbers.

I can only answer for Puma and West Coast, but the embossed AFL shield watermark up until 1999 was all over the fabric so went through logos and numbers. When they started printing on the AFL watermark in 2000 it went through the logos but not the numbers. When they switched to club logo watermarks in 2003 they no longer went through sponsor logos.

For a 1990 VFL Essendon guernsey, how much do they usually cost?
(sorry if its already been answered, am trying to find it now)

The sponsor database of Mero and Gibbsy might give me a hand here. How long did Hawthorn have this sponsor? Like, was this something the Hawks continually did? And was Fitzroy the only other VFL club to integrate a club logo into a sponsors logo?

It was 1990 - 1992 with that sponsors patch, but effectively it was the same company from 1982.
Originally the company was called BFC (Beneficial Finance Corp), and then they merged with someone else and changed their name to HFC (Household Finance Corp).
Eventually they used the long version of their name so everyone knew exactly what their business was.
Today they are part of HSBC, Honk Kong Singapore Bank Corp, which was also a sponsor of Hawthorn.

And Footscray also incorporated a bulldog into two of their sponsor logos. (though not the club logo)

The Hawk was incorporated into the sponsor's logo in 1991. In 1990 the Hawks had the same sponsor but without the Hawk.

Mero do you have a database of all afl clubs of those logos? The reason i ask is its a great way to tell if one on ebay that sells is a repo or a original

I have one that Gibbsy now updates each year
I also did have copies of all the logos, but I lost those files when my Hard Drive died last year.
I put them into graphics which I've got on Photobucket, but I never finished each team before the HD died.

I know it's been asked before, but I couldn't find it.

What is the number font that all EPL teams use?

Can't remember the name but there's a link I found that's been posted in the Template thread

So it seems in the late 1980s and 90s, jumper sponsors were similar. I mean, most conformed to a white rounded rectangular shape. But more to the point, most of the fonts were basically the same (thick, bold, and blocky). Was this because they were simplified for footy jumpers, or was logo design a bit irrelevant then?

(I was born in the mid-90s...)

The simplest answer is it was a bit of both.
The sponsors logo had to be within the specifications of the VFL logo on the other side, so club sponsors had to come up with something that was similar in size, but reflected their own brand.
Logos at the time were more likely to not be bordered, so Avco, Yakka & Pyrox as a few examples from above, would normally be seen with their logo and wordmark next to each other eg The A thing, with AVCO next to it.
It was only when that had to be compressed in a certain space that they put a shield around it and angled the AVCO text. The borders only really came in because the logo patch needed to finish somewhere.
See Page 55 of the 1979 Footy Record
http://takata.slv.vic.gov.au/R/DDFG...set_entry=000040&set_number=000450&base=GEN01
The AVCO logo is how it usually looked.

As far as making the logo bold, this was still happening into the late 80s, where Nubrik sponsored Essendon.
In 1984 they thought no-one could read their logo, which was White on a Red Background (like a brick)
So they changed in 1985 to Black text on White, then they changed the size of the text to make it stand out.

Have Richmond had the most consistently comfortable looking sponsors? The TAC and Jeep were simple and blended into the colourway, and I always thought the Motorola looked cool. Pity they're shit.
