What's the best flat Photoshop template going around these days? I'm getting some inspiration for designing for the first time in about a year.
Have you entered the ARWC yet? It would be great If you could, we need a few more entrants.

I'll consider it, but I only want to commit to things that I know I can get a solid entry in for. If I can get some inspiration, I'll give it a go.

Ahh that's actually a good outcome. We all saw the gold cuffs as an irrelevant nod to an obvious thing, but they look okay there. Hopefully it's not just your dark lighting and when it's worn out on the ground, they look just as natural. I even like the gold premiership cup as well. It's subtle. Classy. Reminds me of the way the Rugby World Cup has each previous winner with a stitched on gold cup and corresponding year underneath.

Obviously the stripes need to be a little bit thicker to make the whole thing pop and lot stronger. It's not that bad though.

There are a few good improvements from the original version as well. The sponsor looks better, firstly. Plus the modern collar and tighter fit will be much more flattering (yokes and full chevrons look stronger in 2016 than they did in 2003, I reckon). I like the way the white number panel has a thin outline as well... with no side panels (a modern designer not using side panels is rare enough, but taking them out when they were originally there?!), and the white collar, I think the whole thing looks a lot more balanced. It looks better as a blue jumper with a white bottom front (ala Swans) and just a number panel. It's more balanced.

Basically hurry up Roos. Bring this in full time.

I understand they are currently trying to (over)compensate for the early 2000s identity murking, and any club latching onto their historical jumper and wearing it as much as humanly possible is a good thing, I think most people associate this design as a good Kangaroos one. Ultimately it reminds most people of premierships and the good parts of Wayne Carey.

Wouldn't mind seeing them use the bouncing 'roo against Hawthorn (lessens the stripes v stripes), St Kilda, and GWS Giants while trotting out the royal inverse against the Swans and Suns simply because it looks so good against the bright red.

Love it but why are there 5 stripes when the 90s version had 4?
The 90s version had 5 stripes, they went down to 4 stripes in the 2000s (like tuckylives' one)

Overall it's awesome dgmw,

But I still don't like the gold cuffs.

Also, the fact that arm holes are tighter in 2016 means that the yoke extends below the bottom of the arms, which looks a bit odd when it's layed flat but probably wont be an issue onfield.

What a year for throwbacks. Awesome work.

Had never seen this before, or maybe just didn't realise but could someone shed some light on the massive white strips at the back of the crows guernseys against essendon. Around the 44second mark of the clip.

Pretty sure that was the game where the Crows had the Melanoma sponsor replacing Toyota.

How good is that kit though. I like our current get-up but i would not be displeased to see it return.

I remember watching that on TV, probably the most unreadable sponsor ever. I think it might have even been in a final.

I'm pretty sure that is the only time toyota wasn't used as a sponsor on the back in a game

I was reading an AFL history book today, and was reading about the history of North Melbourne. Was surprised to read that prior to renaming themselves as 'The Kangaroos' for season '99, they requested to be renamed the 'Northern Kangaroos'. Is this true? Can someone elaborate? Were there any logos mocked up for this? The history, logo and footy buff in me is curious to know more.

It was an attempt to grab supporters by making the name more generic and therefore less geographically constrained. This was because they were struggling off the field at the time.

All the change to "The Kangaroos" did was weaken them and piss off rusted ons as it also encouraged the move north to GC.

Similar logic would have had Port Adelaide rebranded Southern Power several years ago despite the strength of our brand lying in the Port Adelaide name.
