What would you say to your first two picks in the draft and Angwin as a deal for Carey. Is this a bit lopsided and do you rate Angwin.
I assume that since he was a pick 7 and 200cm he must have been rated at some point? so would you expect something more for him. Would enable you to keep a Johnson for your crack at next years flag.

Thoughts??

First two picks plus Angwin for a 32 y.o.? You're kidding, right?

If you can get Johnson, take him and be happy.

Oh, I thought I said a question for Adelaide supporters. Apologies for not making it clear.

Yeah your right, not any 32YO, one that will require the exchanging of a cople of draft picks PLUS Ricciuto's missus!!!!!!!!

Give it up POO BOY, a Kane Johnson alone in a swap is about right, Johnson will probably have 5-6 years of footy, whereas Carey will only give about 2.

I would prefer Adelaide go to work about delivering a top five pick (how they do it aint my problem)... and maybe Angwin... for good measure...

That would be a better option. I dunno why people get so hung up about a second round draft pick around the pick 30 mark. I mean if you could keep Johnson at the expense of around pick 30 as well as Carey, you would have to friggen braindead not to accept it.

A top 5 pick sounds better though. Frawley virtually said on the weekend that he wanted a midfielder from SA, theirs our top 5 pick.

As usual it doesn't take long for a ****wit to come up with an inane comment. Real ****en funny line, one that no one around here hasn't heard before:rolleyes: .

Can't I have a decent debate with Adelaide supporters (for those who are interested) about what may be a mutually beneficial trade.

If you don't want to contribute, then fine, **** off and stop being a moron.

The carey one liners are no longer funny ********.

I think he got that with the dogs, the under 19 one was with North. Stand to be corrected though.

As much I agree that Johnson for Carey is pretty fair, I dont want to trade Johnson if he doesnt want to go.
A tricky decision to be made here...for the Club and Johnson

And having said all of that; "Would you pass up a choice to take Wayne Carey at any cost ?" I wouldnt !

Re Carey:

I too think that if you could get Kane Johnson for him you'd be doing well. I suspect if Adelaide were going to trade him, they could get better value than Carey. Carey was one of the greats, but Adelaide will get 2 years of very good football out of him at best.

Re Libba's Gardiners:

I think they were both with us. He won them in 86 and 88. He was recruited to the Dogs in 86 - I'm presuming that was for the beginning of 86.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Question for Adelaide supporters

Id want more than Angwin and a couple of draft picks if i was a roo supporter.

Watched Angwin play a few times at Glenelg and thought he was bloody soft - spent more time on the ground whinging and sooking than playing anywhere near good football. I think he actually played 5-6 games and got injured in every game too. Quite an achievement!! The fact he quit the Crows cos he missed his mummy and daddy shows something about his mental state as well.
Not sure id take the risk considering hes a huge Hawthorn supporter and would probably have a big cry if he got traded to North.

Lock up ya wives, Adelaideans.. The hootin', lootin', shootin', bootin', rootin', tootin' ***-tweaker is coming to a nightclub near you.. All we need is for Mods to rejoin and Heuskes to get drafted from Geppies and The Crows will get the fuggen TRIFECTA! :p :D :p

Adelaide would do best to offload say a Schell, a Doughty/Stenglein and Angwin for Carey. Kanga's would be happy with Johnno, but not such a smart move by the Crows, considering it's taken them 5-6 seasonsto get his hamstrings half-right.. A quality deliverer of the Sherrin, is Johnno..

Not at all convinced he can teach anyone anything. He had freakish ability that I don't think came from a far deeper understanding of the intricacies of the game than others possess. He's certainly a leader, but I doubt he's a teacher. His value is on-field.

Choppy, if you only wanted Adelaide supporters to answer the thread then you should have posted it on the Adelaide board.

Anyway, re the Angwin name cropping up. If he plays anywhere next year it will be either at Hawthorn or Box Hill. He will walk on the Crows have no doubt about that rather than be traded anywhere but Hawthorn. Maybe if a three way deal can be done then the Crows might get something for him (i.e 3rd round pick from Hawthorn given to Adelaide who pass that pick along to the Roo's).

Thats if the Hawks did decide they wanted him and with Angwins history most clubs would be treading very warily.

Really think somehow it will be more than a straight trade between just the Crows and Roo's regardless if the Hawks are involved or not.

Kane Johnson is a great player, but the Roos would probably prefer to pick up some tall forwards or defenders as we have enough midfielder as it is. So I think the trade will involve at least a third, if not fourth club.

One feasible trade might go like this:

Carey and Roos 2nd round draft pick and Hawks 2nd round draft pick to Adelaide, Kane Johnson and Crows 1st round draft pick to Hawthorn, Dixon and Hawks first round draft pick to the Roos.

The Roos get their forward and 1st round pick.
Crows get Carey, lose 1st round picks, but pick up plenty of 2nd round picks.
Hawks get another midfielder and can afford to trade Chick to Eagles or Freo.

Nonetheless, the Hawks and Pies probably haven't given up on Carey yet and may still offer the Roos a better offer.

This is the twist that is still a threat. :(
