Hey does anyone know what number Jordan Lewis wore for the Geelong Falcons this year? I saw one Falcons game and I'm trying to remember whether i saw him or not.

Your help would be most appreciated.

I did watch the falcons match with NT Lewis had 40 possesions Tampling was tackeled by lewis then went off the ground. There was some thought that he lacked ticher. The kid has ability but the wraps are two big

Looks a gun. Went abit early though. However im not sure who else Hawks (at 7) should have gone for? Looks the right choice.

However - i doubt he has the scope of improvment other top mids picked up do. Also, his biggest weapon, utter strength and 'biggness' wont work neally as well as it would in the AFL as it did vs kids.

I agree. I can't beleive people saying he went abit early. The hawks obviously rating him highly however had pick 7 then pick 21. Lewis probably would not have been available at 21 therefore they picked him at their pick 7.

Alot of players either slip though to latter picks or are picked up earlier than expected. It usually comes down to who the club wants and will they be available at their next pick.

I hope Lewis is a gun, his stats do look impressive.

tell me why hawks traded up 2 pick 7 4 a complete hack (nixon) and the loss of a 3rd round draft pick when jordan lewis woulda been there at 10 4 sure, think the hawks have made 2 stuff ups in this draft.

1 john meeson shoulda been taken with pick 7. reason why they actually traded up for that pick originally was to take a ruckman we were told
2.deluca or maric shoulda been taken with pick 26 , stock pile developing ruckman........aka port and bris

saying all that , rate jordan lewis highly and hope he turns in2 hodge mach II, tuff, hard at it, highly skilled and future leader of the club.

just FRUSTRATES me what hawthorn r thinking sometimes with there drafting procedures........................

Well I think they did an excellent job in drafting the right players to set the club up in the long term future rather than the short term.

Despite the comments to the media after the draft, Hawthorn wanted a mid, kpp & ruck with their first 3 picks.
Buckenara said on the AFL coverage that they had hoped Tambling would have fallen through to 5 so when he didn't they grabbed Franklin. They never went out to focus on kpp as they have been saying afterwards ie "Outsmarting Richmond"

As Franklin is said to grow to 198cm and is an Adam Goodes type player, he could fill a rucking role if need be so they went for the next midfielder on their list at 7.
Personally I think they made a mistake, next years draft is chock full of midfielders and they could have grabbed them then. Not only that but they probably needed a midfielder like Monfries or Meyer more than Lewis.

If both Franklin & Roughead come good I would consider Roughead a better CHB and Franklin as a CHF in the Reiwoldt style, tall & mobile. This would leave them with a deficiency in their ruck with Spider over 30. They still should have gone with Meeson even if it did mean that they would get 3 talls with their first 3 picks. Had they gone this way they would have cleaned up at the draft, its obvious that they were counting on Tambling to fall to 5 which threw out their whole system.

I think the Hawks traded to get pick 7 to enable them to get the best ruckman. IMO the plan was to take Tambling then hopefully Roughead then Messen

As the draft got closer it became obvious that Roughie was going to be picked up with the Tigers pick 4 if we chose Tambling at 2.

Therefore at the last minute the Hawks decided they wanted to get the best KPP (which we desperately need) in Roughead so decided to pick him up at 2 hoping that maybe Tambling would be available at 5

As it turned out Tambling was gone at pick 4 so they took the next best available draftee in Franklin. Based on an already predetermined plan to get a KPP, ruckman and a midfielder with their first 3 picks they went for what they believed was the next best midfielder in Lewis at 7.

The Hawks definately got what they wanted in the KPP in Roughie, missed out on their preferred Midfielder in Tambling and picked Lewis and for the Ruck option missed their preferred option in Messen and got Franklin that could be a interchange ruckman, KPP like Ottens.

Overall based on the last minute strategy they only got 1 of their preferred picks in Roughie whilst missing out on the other two.

If they had chosen what most phantom drafts had estimated they probably would have got 2 of their preferred choices with Tambling and Messen whilst get Franklin as a KPP

IMO, I would have preferred what most people were picking in the phantom drafts, however as the last couple of days have pasted and I have had time to reflect on the decisions I am quite happy with our trading and will look forward to seeing how the Two Towers and the hard nut Lewis perform.
