I know it's extremely early, (well still late this year i guess!) but im stuck for ideas on what our forward and backline will be at the start of next year? Do you guys have any good ideas? Particularly KP back and forward.

Well look , our KP's for next year are looking along the lines of

Tim Boyle , Mark Williams , Ben Dixon , Trent Croad , Jarryd Roughhead , Lance Franklin , Pat Ryder and hopefully Josh Kennedy. OK so what , its an inexperienced crew , give them time and they will develop well

Rotated on need both down back and up forward.

Hopefully Roughie will cement a spot as a true K/P player (probably in defence for now). Look to Croad, Boyle, Thurgood, Dawson, Smith and Jacobs to help out/interchange down back.

Not much different up forward. Croad might start (given reasonably solid late season form this year) as the true CHF. Willo out of the square and Franklin, Dixon, maybe Barker and hopefully Murphy or Little in the mix.

Everything is very fluid about our side at the moment, nothing is really set to say "that's where they'll certainly be playing for the majority of 06".

At least the centre looks settled even though that outside finisher type is still lacking.

Well Mitch19 you've got me athinkin, and that hurts my head. It would be good to know what AC has in his. Full Forward: I would imagine Mark Williams will be a regular but will be a FP of HFF but who will we try-out and nurture for FF ... cant say - somewhat too early to call.

Maybe leave the ever improving AA Croady at CHF. If we could only have someone in the mould of Chris Mew at CHB and maybe Roughie at FB.

What! No Sewell, Clarke, Brennan, Osborne & Young?

Remember every coach has their favourite pet players as well as those who no matter how hard they try will never catch the coaches eye - just ask 1 Nick Holland. Another example Alan Jeans little pet was John Kennedy Jnr. Fair dinkum you could watch a 100 min of footy and swear that J Kennedy Jnr wasnt even on the team, let alone the field and then in 10 min he would bob up, kick 3 goals and go back to sleep. No dropping JKjnr when AJ was around. Our little Mr Clarke is definately one of the favs so u must include him in your team.

I'm bored so I'll have a go at how i think we should line up,

Jaccobs Boyle Brown
Sewell Roughead Thurgood
Crawford Bateman Young
Clarke Croad Franklin
Dixon Williams Lekkas

Everitt, Mitchell (vc), Hodge(c)

Int: Ladson, Osborne, Lewis, Cambell Miller, Murphy, Little, Taylor, Kane, Vandenburg

I didn't put Barker in because I can't see it happening, but if he could play it'd either stengthen our forward line a mile by having him as another target. Or we could strengthen the backline and send Croad to CHB, and Barker the true CHF... but that's a long way off happening just yet.

A centre line of Crawf Bateman Young is pretty pacy, we don't look as slow as people say we are. Although its probably a bit premature to put Young there perhaps, but I liked what I saw this year.

Keeping in mind you'd expect perhaps 1 or even 2 draft picks to get a place in the side next year, and maybe a PSD pick up.. Its not bad at full strength, but we lack depth at the moment, which we are trying to rectify with high draft pick.

I agree with Grendel.

Expect rotation through the key positions to best meet the demands posed by opposition structure from week to week.

This will create some concerns with allowing players to settle, but -- if it works -- the benefits will be enormous for future seasons with many players having diversity & flexibility (ala the strong Essendon unit of the 80s).

As for the suggestion we'll snare young Selwood through the PSD...

Life would be a dream (shaboom, shaboom); but even if he goes into it, the odds of him falling through to us @ 3 would be more exorbitant than the chances of anything coming from Mars!

Ossie will play every game that he is fit for. Clarko loves him and so do i, if he could only control his aggression. I like the idea of roughead at CHB he has good skills, can run well (and i am sure this will improve), takes a good grab and seems to know how to pick up easy kicks in space across halfback. I think he maybe a very valueable linkman as well as defender at CHB for us next year which i hope hurts teams on the rebound ;)

Roughy is Chris Mew all over... it's just going to take some time. Now where did that AA fullback go???

OK I'll give this team a crack

Brown/Ossie, Boyle, Smith
Thurgood/Dawson, Croad, Jacobs
Young, Hodge, Bateman
Crawf, Roughie, Franklin
Miller/lekkas, Williams, Dixon

Everitt, Mitchell, Lewis

Int:Clarke, Vanders, Taylor, Ladson, Sewell

One of the Ossie Brown combo can play on Youngs wing if both not needed down back. Hopefully Thurgood &/or Dawson can stand up and be regulars. Millers FP is open to anybody willing to kick a few goals possibly a ready made draft pick. Putting my faith in Boyle but reckon he can handle it, if not can swap with Roughie. FB is the only real worrying position on the ground now but thats what you get when you trade like we have.
