why wasnt narkle in the team from the beginning of this season. Ridiculous.

Put simply, he was in poor shape aerobically.

After identifying his endurance as a flaw over summer, Quinton Narkle's tank continues to be a work in progress. The 21-year-old's highlights reel is as good as anyone's, but an inability to finish games strongly has let him down in the early parts of the VFL season.

The talent and footy nous has never been in question. By contrast, the fitness and determination to run both ways has been fairly mediocre at times.

I for one am delighted that he's now working hard enough to reap some of the benefits of his undoubted ability. If he stays fit and motivated, he will be a massive asset over a long period of time for the GFC.

Not really - quite happy if the club has set standards for the players & that there's consequences for those who don't meet required standards; as long it's applied across the board and not just selectively

Quinton Narkle has been slowly building in the VFL after a far from ideal pre-season where he didn’t return in peak condition.
As a result he’s been made to wait but the 21-year-old made up for lost time with an impressive opening half.

Poor shape aerobically, took a sustained go at vfl before breaking into afl. Sounds like Chook

Do you honestly think he improved it while missing a large chunk of this season injured?

Fine if applied to everyone. How does atkins and henry keep getting games?

When did they returnt to pre-season or rock up to a training session not in peak condition?

Didn't realise they had been taking things easy during the season and slacking off fitness wise.

Shhhhh. Seeds was trying to claw out a negative in a feel good thread.

Chris Scott has a quota in his contract of how many young players he will interact with each preseason. He likes to do it alphabetically. Unfortunately Narkle, despite being before Parsons, wasn’t on a first name basis (James is before Quentin), so he missed out. Likewise Wylie. It’s all true, take it from me.

Bolded was the big issue for me - on show in VFL this year. Just didnt work hard enough. Has changed that last 1/3 of year ... good on him.

Hope he gives PFD the same tapes he watched.

Played 11 of 15 games he was available for in the VFL. Including the first five Bankers games consecutively.

Missed four games (over five weeks) in the middle of the season, before returning for five more VFL games in the row. He was then promoted to the seniors.

We would all have different definitions of what constitutes 'missing a large chunk of this season'. But playing just on 75% of games in the twos doesn't equate to that description for me.

Ablett Jnr 2.0 in my eyes. Looks a lot like The Little Master in the way he moves.

His numbers in the last few games have been insane, when you factor in the low gametime and that he's still building his fitness base:

Massive tank-building pre-season for this bloke, and the sky is the limit!

Pleased to read this.

I am too, though I wonder how close the call was. Maybe it was the line-in-the-sand, wake up call Narkle needed. Or maybe it was inevitable that he'd be re-signed. Either way, he doesn't seem close to the starting 22 for Round 1, 2021. Parfitt, Simpson and Miers have shown there are spots available if you're good enough, I'd love to see Narkle take one.

Pleased he is staying. I would play him at high half forward. He is elusive, clever around goal and a nice user.

Needs a big summer of tackling with Parfitt.

I don’t see him making it as a midfielder, he just can’t stay in games for long enough.

Class player.
