no issue with banning snaring in particular where other methods exist. Bit hard not to snare something like a croc as I wouldnt back 20 foxhounds in the Darwin River against one.

I don;t honestly believe that either Medders or Otaku want to ban them because they are inhumane, they are just making a pedantic point.

Actually - i am totaly against baiting as a means of population control - once the bait is set, you have no say in what eats it.

Added to that, have you ever seen an animal die from being baited? I have - and i would rather that animal be "ripped to shreds" in 1-2 minutes than linger for hours or days in agony.

I would prefer them to be professionally culled - but that will never hapen (even then, look at the disgrace with the horse culling a year or two ago).

Some very interesting points made in this thread, and I'm glad to see that the general consensus of this thread is that animals that are targeted for the kill all deserve a quick, humane putdown and that killing animals purely for 'entertainment' is looked down upon.

Exactly. Have you ever heard of a glue trap, and what it can do? I've seen them myself. Nasty things, morally repugnant... you could say it is a snare trap too for vertebrate pests. You'd rather use poison.
