xavier clarke will improve out of site this year

Raphael Clarke's greatest asset is his ability to keep cool, but it was his downfall as his confidence and assuredness didn't match his fitness and form and he played poorly as a result.

Xavier Clarke showed late last year a renewed commitment to the footy, and hopefully both will be able to fulfill their potential with some luck with injuries. Currently I have X Clarke in my best St Kilda 22, but with a solid backline which when fit includes Hudghton, Sam & Leigh Fisher, Jason Gram, Matt Maguire & Brendan Goddard, I have R Clarke as an emergency at the moment.

How can someone's asset possibly be: "the ability to keep cool"

Thats crap!

I call this lack of ergency, lack of intensity and quite possibly his weakest aspect. This is what will seperate him from being a great player.

Get an idea and stop praising the bitter aspects of players games. This bloke has to mature and grow up and until then we will not see his best footy.

Nick Dal Santo or Robert Harvey ring a bell? It's basically the opposite of Mark McGough or Aron Fiora who ******** themselves if anyone sees them with the ball. Raph reads the play very well, is composed under pressure, has good skills, is a good mark and has great pace.

aaron fiora is a much better player than raph clarke.

Dont confuse my statement with the talent of other players.

Both Reiwoldt and my mate are tall. My mate dont play football too well though.

last year when i saw raph clarke play i did notice he didnt ******** himself when he got the ball as you mentioned. Probably because his awareness was that bad he thought he was clear and then he just got tackled (which did happen a lot dont kid yourself). look at his stats, even in 2005 the only games he had decent amount of possessions in are games that we floged the opponent, and i get the feeling raph wasnt the difference maker.

as for aaron fiora he doesnt ******** himself when he gets the ball. he is a player with as much potential if not more than raph clarke to become a very strong player at stkilda. If ross lyon can get fiora to reach his potential then we will have another very lethal midfielder

OK, now I know that I'll never have to take anything you say seriously.

Even my dog is laughing.

he is much better, watch the game he played against west coast this year.

came of the bench and ran with the ball and made an impact, only player on the ground from stkilda with a heart at some stages through that game.

didnt get the opportunity under grant thomas that i hope he will have under ross lyon

You're a monkey:thumbsu: Clearly a monkey:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

It's called composure:rolleyes:

StKilda's greatest player in modern times is renowned for it.

FWIW I think R.Clarke will struggle to develop into a regular senior player.

I believe dropkick is fair in his assessment.

If we put our prejudices aside, they are saying "NOW" that he will miss the first half.

I think it would be reasonable to expect that if a player misses half the season with injury unless he's a key player for the finals, you'd expect him to be little more than an emergency. If you look at Kosi, he missed half the season and a bit more - and struggled to make an impact due to the number of games he'd missed. I am guessing Raph would be much the same (as much as a kick to the guts it is).
