Terrible news for the family and football. He has been cheated out of half a life. R.I.P. Dean Bailey.

Condolences to family and friends of Dean Bailey,47 is much to young to be passing away, cancer is such an indiscriminate disease it spares no one young or old.

RIP Dean and sincere sympathies to his family.

I always thought he was a good coach

R.I.P

He was great in the media especially on Before the Game.
Had a great sense of humour.
Did he even smoke?

Not sure if he smoked, it's possible to get lung cancer as a lifelong non smoker, but it's exceedingly rare.

Most non smokers who get lung cancer were passive smokers eg spouses, worked in a pub in the old days when they were smoke filled haunts etc. Asbestos workers are a separate subgroup again.

If any smokers out there would like to quit in memory or respect to Dean Bailey, go for it, would put some sort of positive slant on this sadness.

Have a think about it, it's crazy sad dying at that young age and I bet Dean's family would be thrilled if some good came of this.

From memory I believe ex -Melbourne player Sean Wight died from lung cancer and he was also a non-smoker.

...also should add I really liked Dean Bailey and it's a great loss.

Condolences to his family and to the players he has coached at three clubs.
Another good man gone.

Even though his coaching record wasn't great, its good to see people remembering Bailey as a good, honest, decent bloke. You can't ask for more
