Backs: M. Robbins S. Bassett S. Kretiuk
Half Backs: R. Murphy C. Grant R. Smith
Centre: M. Alvey, N. Eagleton S. West
Half Forwards: D. Bandy L. Gilbee , M. Hahn
Forwards: S. Garlick N. Brown P. Wiggins
Followers: L. Darcy, B. Johnson, D. Giansiracusa
Interchange: S. Birss, R. Hargrave, S. Power, P. Dimattina, B. Harrison, W. Skipper, K. McGuinness

afl.com had 4 on the half back line and 2 on the HF, so moved Hahn.

As for the interchange, I'd go Birss, Hargrave, Harro and Skipper.

Actually, the centre and HF lines are:

C: Alvey, West, Hahn.
HF: Eagleton, Bandy, Gilbee.

I would also leave out Dimma, although I would be very tempted to play him because Geelongs midfield beat us up physically last month, but I can't see who else should miss.
Agreed - Power and K-Mac unlikely to play. Will it come down to Dimma v Birss? Seems Skipper will play, and I can't see Harrison being left out. Ditto Hargrave.

Birss, Hargrave, Harrison and I'd give the final spot to Skipper to solve a potential mismatch on McCarthy (he is tall and plays for the Cats). :)

Obviously you have no idea what you're on about. ;)

Dimma for reasons of physicality against the Cats as previously mentioned

Others would be Skipper, Shags & Birss

Birssy can hold his ground. He puts his body in most of the time, and takes the hard knocks, gets straight back up and continues with what he was doing.

Id pick birssy, shaggy, dimma and harro.

I cant help feeling that any centre line boasting alvey and eagleton at the same time is going to put way too much pressure on our backline. Has anything changed?

Going on preseason form and lack of heavy hitting onballers, Im hoping for Birrs, Skipper, Dimma and Shaggs.

For some reason Shaggs seems on the outer with Rhodes. He was a walkup start all year last year and I thought he aquitted himself well enough. Any clues?

The inside on shaggs is he hasn't been putting in very hard over the preseason.
And when your out on a wednesday night boozing up at a local establishment it doesn't look good on the eve of the season. Witnessed this with my on eyes.
He is only young though and booze and women have given many young players the second year blues. Hopefully he can knuckle down.

Ah, rhodes wants to make sure he doesnt get complacent now that he has 'made it'. fair enough.

word is gilbee has a hamstring (one of two I believe) and that MacMahon is up for his spot on Sunday.

Hamstring strain outs Gilbee

afl.com.au

The Western Bulldogs have suffered an injury blow ahead of their AFL season opener against Geelong at Telstra Dome on Sunday with pacy wingman Lindsay Gilbee straining a hamstring at training on Friday morning.

Gilbee, who was one of the Bulldogs’ most improved players last year in playing 16 games, is set to have a scan to determine the full extent of the injury but he has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game.

It is a big setback for the 21-year-old, who has not only completed a full pre-season but has never had hamstring trouble before.

And the Bulldogs will feel his loss even more on the fast Telstra Dome surface – where the importance of running players such as Gilbee is greater than at any other venue – and particularly against a Geelong side full of young, quick midfielders.

The loss of Gilbee means the Bulldogs will now name five of their seven man preliminary bench in their final line-up as Gilbee had been chosen in the starting 18.

Jordan McMahon has been drafted into the squad of 22 as Gilbee's replacement.
