No-
Mcveigh
Gumbleton

Yes-
Hurley
Pears
Zaka
Myers
Jetta
Watson

50/50
Slattery
Houli - There has been correct posts as to why.
Atkinson

Alright with McVeigh out of the side and Slattery just a 50/50 I'll try again.

B: H. Slatts/Hocking, Fletcher, NLM
HB: Nash, Ryder, Dempsey
C: Winderlich, Watson, Lovett
HF: Skipworth, Lloyd, McPhee
F: Davey, Lucas, Jetta
R: Hille, Lonergan, Stanton
I/C: Bellchambers, Neagle, Dyson, Myers

Emerg: Houli, Hocking, Monfries

I think it looks a pretty strong side. Houli's been dropped a couple of times in pre-season so I doubt he'll play. Dyson looks to be playing fairly well so he gets a gig. Skipworth takes Monfries 2008 spot. Neagle plays as Gumby is injured and I think at least one of them will play in all games for developments sake. NLM takes the third key back spot over Hurley, Daniher and Pears but could easily go out of the side after one or two weeks.

B: Slattery Fletcher Nash
HB: McPhee Ryder Dempsey
C: Myers Stanton Winderlich
HF: Skipworth Lloyd Lovett
F: Davey Lucas Monfries

Foll: Hille Lonergan Watson
I/C: Jetta Dyson Houli Bellchambers
EMG: Neagle Lovett-Murray Pears

Throw in Gumby somewhere if he's available.
Lovett might move around into the midfield.
Myers might move down back.
Skipworth should play a bit of midfield too.
Maybe we could see a new Richo-type player arising from Lloyd on the Wing... Anything if it helps us win games. (Except for things that are illegal e.g. bribing umpires *cough* ;)) It could happen. Also Jetta in the midfield mix and Houli in there and down back also if he's fit.

Myers Hurley Fletcher
Slattery Ryder Dempsey
Winderlich Watson Lovett
Davey Lloyd McPhee
Lucas Neagle Monfries

Hille Stanton Lonergan

INT: Bellchambers Skipworth Dyson Houli

EMG: Jetta Lovett-Murray Nash

This is presuming Gumby is out, which he almost certainly is. Jetta very stiff but i just think Houli and Dyson are better suited to AAMI.

with ankle injuries to slattery and myers today i'd have my lineup as:

B: Atkinson (Ebert), Fletcher (Tredrea), Daniher (D.Motlop)
HB: McPhee (C.Cornes), Ryder (Westhoff), Dempsey (Rodan)
C: Stanton, Watson, Lovett
HF: Skipworth, Lloyd, Davey
F: Lucas, Neagle, Monfries
Foll: Hille, Lonergan, McVeigh
Int: Bellchambers, Hocking, Dyson, Winderlich
Emerg: Nash, Hurley, Houli

Gumby, Jetta, Pears, NLM, Houli all left out as they didn't get a gig in final hitout for various reasons. Myers, Slattery and definitely Reimers may not come up in time.

with mcveigh out i would have houli in starting as rover. i'm uncertain which way they should go in defence with a number of options. see which one you think is best?

Tredrea opponent options - Fletcher, Hurley, Lucas, Ryder. Tredrea has lost pace in recent years and his biggest asset is strength. Perhaps Lucas whilst unconventional could actually be the best matchup? and send McPhee forward? A return to defence might turn lucas around as he has been struggling up forward.

Ebert options - Fletcher, Atkinson, McPhee, Ryder, Daniher (slattery missing with injury). Ebert is quite clever and a reasonable mark for his size. Perhaps Fletcher is the best option and he could run off him as Ebert is not a renowned chaser.

Motlop options - Fletcher, Atkinson, Ryder, Hurley, McPhee, Daniher, Lovett-Murray. His main asset is pace so will need a quick defender here. Daniher without doubt is the quickest off the mark in this brigade. I'd give him first crack and if fails look at atkinson.

Westhoff - Fletcher, Ryder, McPhee, Hurley, Daniher. Ryder looks the perfect matchup for Westhoff and is suited to the CHB role.

my new side is:

B: Fletcher (Ebert), Lucas (Tredrea), Daniher (D.Motlop)
HB: Dempsey, Ryder (Westhoff), Nash
C: Stanton, Watson, Lovett
HF: Skipworth, Lloyd, McPhee
F: Davey, Neagle, Monfries
Foll: Hille, Lonergan, Houli
Int: Bellchambers, Hocking, Winderlich, Atkinson
Emerg: Hurley, Dyson, Lovett-Murray

thoughts on playing lucas on tredrea?

Havent heard much about A.Lovett this pre season, just wondering is he a certain starter RND 1???? is he ready for a big year considering bombers were talking trades last season?

He has been the best player of the pre-season.

Lloyd listed him as the player to show the most improvement at the Captains gathering.

He seems to be showing the application that was hoped when his name was bandied about last year at trade time.

Could be a very good year from Andrew if he keeps it up.

Prismall, Welsh, Laycock, Reimers being injured / unfit. If McVeigh is out Hocking takes his spot.

I presume Gumbleton will play 1 or 2 weeks at Bendigo before he's brought in.

Now that it appears McVeigh, Slattery and Myers (VFL) will be missing, it's time to make a few changes.

Losing two backs we need to bring in some guys that know what they're doing. Lovett-Murray is much maligned on this board but I choose him over Hurley, as IMO Hurley needs some weeks in the VFL before we bring him in. Atkinson has improved dramatically and there's no reason why he can't keep doing so; he can take Slattery's role. It's actually tough choosing between Dyson and Hocking to replace McVeigh. Dyson misses out because we already have enough pace (Stanton, Lovett, Davey, Winderlich), but it wouldn't surprise me if he made the team as Knights seems to still have a lot of faith in him. Jetta unlucky to miss as well.

Anyone got the latest on Skippy's injury? He picked up a knock to the heel i think? Still assured to play this week?

Gee does anyone really have a clue about Houli @ all ??? I have seen him named in nearly every position but ruck and then some do not even have him named as an emergency ??

Personally I would have thought he would comfortably make your starting 18, let alone 22, but it seems even bomber supporters are not sure where he fits in @ the moment !! I though he showed a fair bit last year and he is 1 of the few Bomber players I enjoy watching play. It would be a shame to see him left on the outer this year.

Just my 2 cents !!

He carried OP for much of last season before finally having surgery.

He is still getting into the swing of things again.

He is most certainly in Essendons best 22 if fit.

As for position he is most likely to play on the wing, HB and as a rotating mid.

Drafting a 26 year old ordinary footballer..... Mistake

Playing him round 1 when we're supposed to be rebuilding with youth. Disgusting.

Time wasting load of crap. Poor form Knights.

What are you a bloody parrot
Give it a bloody rest FFS , you could at least wait until he actually does play poolry before you pay out on him continually.

if your not happy go and bloody watch Lawn Bowls...

B: Michael Hurley - Dustin Fletcher - Henry Slattery
HB: Adam McPhee - Patrick Ryder - Courtenay Dempsey
C: Andrew Lovett - Jobe Watson - Brent Stanton
HF: Angus Monfries - Matthew Lloyd - Hayden Skipworth
F: Jay Neagle - Scott Lucas - Alwyn Davey
Foll: David Hille - Jason Winderlich - Sam Lonergan
Inter (from): Tom Bellchambers - Leroy Jetta - David Myers - Heath Hocking - Jay Nash - Ricky Dyson - Bachar Houli

I think we're going to get something like that tomorrow night. I reckon they'll do whatever they can to get Henry Slattery up, and given it's a Sunday game, it's still a very realistic possibility. I'm also under the impression that Myers will be named, whether he plays is anothert thing.

Zaharakis, Daniher, Lovett-Murray and Atkinson wouldn't be out of the equation, but I can't see a spot for them at the moment.

From a match-ups point of view, Hurley goes to Westhoff, Ryder goes to Tredrea, Fletcher goes to Motlop and McPhee goes to Ebert. Assuming Robbie Gray plays, Slats will go to him.

Gotta say, looking forward to see what these blokes deliver on Sunday. For all the shit throwing that's been going on around here, it'd be nice if they gave a few people some reason to stop doubting. I'm optimistic, I think we'll give Port a bit to think about.

FFS get over it!!!! I was totally against drafting Skippy also but it is done now so i will support the decision and Skipworth himself no matter what.

Why do you even bother posting?

i agree with the side. i would love to see hurley take tredrea though and put ryder on westhoff.. imo tredrea is probably the perfect match up for hurley and although it would be throwing him in the deep end a bit i think hurley would take itwell

Hurley, Zaharakis and Still all named. I did not anticipate Still being named. Probably emergency.

You do realise the thing they had on the footy show was new players at the club

Was it? I was only half paying attention. I just thought it was ins and outs of the team, lol. I saw those three and skipworth but did not read it too closely. :o my bad. lol

You would've saw Prismall's name there aswell ;)

The squad is announced tomorrow.

I didn't actualy see it. I was wasting my time here on the computer as usual, and glanced over to the telly. When I saw Still's name I was just dumstruck for a few seconds, then turned back to the computer. :p
