Sid Draper, Chris Burgess and Brodie Smith have been named as the emergencies.

I shared a more detailed analysis earlier from a neutral that analyses the game well and every stat about our season would refute your second sentence, but if you feel this way then that's fine.

I think most people here are just waiting for strong evidence that we will achieve results we haven't before.

Our statistical profile does look good, but it's also assisted by us largely playing teams Nicks has successfully coached against before, combined with a stronger squad

If we can keep that up through the next five games - two of which are against sides/coaches Nicks is winless against, and another two against coaches Nicks has a combined 2-1-8 record against - I think the mood will shift a fair bit.

The trend so far of us beating/losing to teams we've beaten/lost to before isn't exactly convincing despite our ladder position

Mood was very positive on this board when were 3-0 as well even though we hadn't played any strong teams. A lot of the energy of the board is just recency bias/emotion. I am certain for example if we had started poorly against Port and come roaring from behind to win by 5 points the thread after the game would have been very positive instead of a thousand posts about how shit we are, even though the result was the same.

Overall I think it's clear there's notable improvement from last year. You wouldn't find any neutrals who felt the Crows were a potential bottom 4 team. Very unclear whether we are a top 4 contender or a 'should probably scrape into the 8' type team though - next few weeks is when we learn more.

Mood was very positive on this board when were 3-0 as well even though we hadn't played any strong teams. A lot of the energy of the board is just recency bias/emotion. We've certainly been able to beat the beatable sides by more this year, hence the excitement early.

Similarly we've lost to teams like Geelong and Fremantle in near identical fashion to last year.

What matters is whether we can translate improvement to winning where we couldn't previously. If we only improve against weaker sides we are merely flat track bullies which I guess is an improvement, but not a meaningful one

This will be an actual test of how we are travelling - last week was disguised by a win, when I thought we should have beaten the team they put out there by 30+.
