The two travelling emergencies were Draper and Burgess.
Seriously what is the point of Burgess.

If a tall was injured, bring in a small.

Campo just said what most of us are thinking... why the heck isn't Bond in the side to play on Hill.

Also, Nicks must tag Naicos.
I hope Berry goes to Naicos, and also wins his own ball.

A lot of these top midfielders are actually bad defensively.

I would double team him with Berry & Peatling or even ANB. Keep them fresh.

It wont happen but I would absolutely love for us to be really physical and pressur ethem tomorrow.

Make them super uncomfortable.... Shed this nice/vanilla image.

Get angry, get on edge.... These pricks have arsed the last 4 wins against us by less than a goal.... LESS THAN A GOAL.

Remember the sh*t umpiring.

Remember the arrogant pies filth.

GET ANGRY CROWS.

Why can't each side just play each other twice, is it purely due to player fatigue? Surely that just brings squad rotation into the mix more and if teams are smarter they can probably surface more young players over the season.

That would be just too much footy. By the time we get to 20 teams we'd require a 38-week minor round, plus any byes, plus at least four weeks of finals. Footy all year round.

The better plan would be to play each other once. No byes, just a 19 week minor round, perhaps with a break after round 10 for state of origin or indigenous all-stars or whatever else they want. Hell, launch the AFLW season then. If the clubs insist on a mid-season bye, either schedule these all over a five-week period in the middle of the season (four teams per week have a bye until all twenty have had it) or a two-week period (ten teams miss each week). Then either have a four-week finals series for the top eight, or else make it a five-week finals series for the top ten.

Only doable reducing to 16 teams with bigger squads, allowing players to be managed during the season.

Even then it's a long season, minimum of 34 weeks (including finals). Would interest be maintained that long?

That would also mean deleting at least three teams, given that Tasmania is coming in.

This is a crucial game, both in the context of this season, and we have never won against Collingwood under Nicks.

After 9 rounds, we're 6 - 3

He needs to start beating the best sides.

W
12th Saints
10th Essendon
17th North
8th Giants
9th Carlton
13th Port Power

L
2nd Gold Coast
7th Geelong
11th Fremantle

Let's piss off 4 of the Vics, and bring in NT also.

What this illustrates is that we've had a really easy fixture so far. The teams we've beaten have proved to be disappointments so far.

With expanded squads, can play more mid week games.

16 teams would reduce the number of crap games we have because of lack of quality.

There are way too many Melbourne clubs.

To be fair, I think most of the team travelled today as they aren't playing this weekend. I saw Welsh was at the airport too.
There was no point naming Burgess as an emergency.

I would have had Bond, Edwards & Pedlar... though would have had most in our side.

We are already tall with wet weather, so there is no reason to name a dud tall as emergency.

Yeah crap selection again.
Nicks is typically reluctant to make unforced changes after big losses, let alone after Showdown wins. Has his pecking order and sticks to it.

I still think our failure to rotate the squad is somewhat a concern for later in the year. Guys like Edwards, Bond, Dowling etc should be getting some games. Need to start doing it sooner rather than later, to keep our guys fresh IF there is a run to September looming...

They will only get a game when Nicks runs players into the ground and they start getting long term injuries. Its what he does best.
