Check out the demeanour of Scott after the game. No one really went to her (except Sheahan); she pretty much kept to herself during the celebrations. What's that about you reckon? She looked visibly upset!

I reckon she is pretty frustrated with how she is going. Only second win so you can excuse players for celebrating and not noticing. They’ll get around her during the week.

Arguably our worst today.

Needs a big pre season.

I think she got collapsed on a bit, and was unlucky not to get a free kick right in front after a huge jumper pull. Definitely struggling to find her space in that forward line. A joyous win wallpapers over bad games. You get happy. You don't often see someone as visibly upset after a win

unconvincing but better than losing

another scraggy effort-based win, albeit with some moments of excellence. we seemed to think it would just come after a sensational first quarter. were the second best team for a lot of the game. but - points on the board is all that matters.

Egan - best game since forever. Good to see her kick more - and some good kicks in there
Brennan - yes. That's it.
Greiser - still dropping easy marks but good enough
McClelland -great scrapping
Lynch - incredible marking.
Hosko - big big moments. Must not try and do too much
ellie - best kick in the comp. Colleagues need to block for her a but so she can take that extra second and put it on a plate - like that Greiser pass late
Yassir - started like a train. Faded a bit but at least showed effort
Grieves - good game
Cox - very brave and some big big defensive moments
Miller - held the line enough
Wicksteed - again with excellent effort, and starting to show some tactical sense and some nice kicks
Dempsey - they barely mentioned her but I thought she was very, very dependable
Dallaway - good enough game. Mostly solid.

I thought Mon was well held by her standards and should pay more attention with her tackles. 4 frees against noting one was a teammate neither shepherding nor warning her

Bacon was a pass. Important early to give us confidence

Graham was a bit off but it didn't cost us in the end and she has been good

Beruldsen was a bit scrappy but at least laid some tackles.

I thought Fredericks dominated Poppy in the ruck when she went in there

Scott was 2m off a big moment again and again. They seem to be doing some of Yassir's chasing? I guess with Greiser and Brennan kicking goals you won't get as any chances. Was a very poor shot they had tho.

Mac Ford just looks a bit lost at the moment. Buzzing, but not stinging. Maybe can have a rest.
4 points and a bit of biff and the mark of the year and Ellie's brilliant goal. worth watching.

Fought it out to the end Laura maclland so under rated
There’s a few factors in our turnaround , as I said earlier , we are far more committed after coasting thru first month , making the basics look difficult. Also a few positional charges , hosko back laura Mc f50 and better form from several players Had we played swans, ess and saints in this form , reckon we’d win 2 of

Also felt it was unconvincing. There are some basics we just have to get better at. I realise that giving the handball and then breaking away for the get back again is a thing, but shepherds have to be re-assessed for their value, just ask Mon. We could improve our disposal efficiency considerably with a few more shepherds.

There are some really interesting ball-holds when kicking for goal. Grieser's stuttering run-up seems to be working for her, though, as long as the ball doesn't end up dragging on the ground in the run-up.........

Still those basics being done a heap better than early season where we could barely hold a mark or string more than 2 possies together

I noticed watching some highlights later on that KB put herself next to Scott during the song and gave her a peck on the cheek so Scott being upset did get picked up by the team.

First quarter was very convincing I thought. Absolutely dominated. Pies lifted, we went into our shells a bit and it ended up a bit of a scrap but I was mostly happy they fought out a win. Sometimes winning whatever way you can is more important than the way you win and sitting 1-9 is one of those times.

I admit I got the Hosko call wrong. Thought she was great even without the mark of the year contender. Made the team stand taller. I knew she was tough as nails but I thought her impact was diminishing. What we don't think about are the mental demons lurking in her head after a pretty horrendous injury run. Probably needed a few games to get over that.

Hosko down back is working for the team balance, has only had a handful as good games up forward so hope we keep her down back where she is impacting more. Impressive that we kicked 4 goals in that 1st quarter, and our forward line turnaround is still a WIP but much better conversion of late, as we were always getting enough looks inside I50.

To win now is going to take momentum into the off season period and finishing strong the best possible scenario (even if we miss out on Bown in draft) hopefully we have a more successful off season and bring in some better players/ball users.

Tigers tough it out to down Pies, clinch second win

RICHMOND has snatched its second win of the season and jumped Collingwood on the ladder in the process with a 13-point win in front of a crowd of 4057 at Victoria Park.

The Tigers have put their 0-7 start to the season behind them as they look for a strong finish to the year. Staving off a fight from the Pies, Richmond held on to win 7.4 (46) to Collingwood’s 5.3 (33).

Both teams had the assignment of correcting the inside 50 woes that have plagued them all season. Magpies young gun Violet Patterson kicked her side’s first off an intercept in their forward 50 within 45 seconds of the opening siren, but it was shortly matched by Tigers skipper Katie Brennan. The veteran Tiger went on to finish with three for the match.

Despite Collingwood’s strong start Richmond pulled away fast, ending the first quarter with four goals off 10 inside 50s, whereas the Pies were held to just the one off six.

The second quarter was lower scoring, but the Tigers were rarely behind the ball as they gained territory and forced their opponents to spend time up the defensive end of the ground.

Whilst Collingwood's defence stopped Richmond from taking advantage of its time inside 50, the Tigers prevented the Pies from spending much time in theirs, with Collingwood's attempts to rebound cut off in the centre square.

Mon Conti did what Mon Conti does best, directing her team’s pressure with four tackles, seven clearances and 23 disposals to end her afternoon.

For Collingwood, Brit Bonnici did everything to keep her side in the game, with 26 disposals and 10 tackles leading the individual players stats for the match.

The Pies tried to regain some control with a game of kick to kick as Richmond’s pressure deepened, but silly turnovers let them down.

Collingwood and Richmond come out firing, exchanging classy early goals in a fast-paced start to the contest
Tensions were heavy in the third term, as Collingwood began to dominate possession but struggled, once again, to convert inside 50.

Lily-Rose Williamson was vocal, letting her frustrations get the better of her and giving up a 50-metre penalty in the process, resulting in a talking to by both her captain Ruby Schleicher and coach Sam Wright at three-quarter time.
Young Tigers recruit Sierra Grieves is really pushing for a Rising Star nomination, slotting straight back into her side after she was managed last week. With four tackles, (a huge one executed in the second term) and 13 disposals, it’s just a matter of time before the Tiger cub gets her flowers.

A calf injury to Richmond’s Montana Beruldsen was the only thing to sour the afternoon as she went straight to the rooms, skipping the interchange bench at three-quarter time.

"She wasn't able to go back on, so [that's] obviously worrying," coach Ryan Ferguson said post-match.
"I think there could be a little bit of damage there so obviously wait and see but yeah, calf [injury] and she wasn't able to return."

Scoring desperation from both sides was clear in the final term, as the day darkened with clouds stretching across Victoria Park, but ultimately the Tigers held on to take their second win of the season.

Mark of the year, surely?
Sarah Hosking was managed last week but came back into her side with a mark so impressive, surely we’re talking mark of the year contention. Mid-way through the first quarter the Tiger went back with the flight to take a huge grab, putting her body on the line as she came tumbling down hard with the ball still in hand, avoiding a wayward spoil in the process. The intercept saved her side from giving up a goal and showed off Hosking’s elite bravery that was missed against North Melbourne in Round 9.

MRO trouble for Bonnici
It looked like day done for Richmond’s Katelyn Cox, after a huge bump from Brit Bonnici at the end of the second quarter left the tiger hobbling off the ground with the wind taken out of her.
Whilst she spent the start of the third term on the bench, the Tiger army could breathe a sigh of relief as she passed an HIA to head back out. However, it will be a nervous wait for Pies fans, with Bonnici potentially in hot water with the Match Review Officer for the bump.

Up next
Both sides are heading away for Round 11. Collingwood will travel north to take on Gold Coast at Bond University on Sunday afternoon, whereas Richmond heads west to take on Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Sheesh we mark Conti unbelievable hard. Too hard I think sometimes.

23 Disposals - 11 contested.
Almost 70% DE
7 Clearances
92% game time.
335 MG (only Greg had more for us)

True, we've seen her better but 99% of AFLW players would be chuffed having her "off" day.

Bet she will be in the coaches votes.

Sheesh we mark Conti unbelievable hard.
Another stand out performance from Mon and only behind KB this game for us. We're so used to this we forget this sometimes.

Mon is a victim of her extraordinary and consistent standard that she plays at, when anything less to the standard she sets for herself for whatever reason, a tag, copping frees etc. understandably people are disappointed. That's all external noise inc media, and I'm sure internally she is 100% only focused on doing her part for the team and playing at her best. As you say her quieter games would be the envy of just about all her AFLW peers apart from a few. The only reason she's sitting outside the top 10 in the coaches votes and not in the top 3 is because of our team being dominated this year.

PS: TBH those tackle frees apart from the first one where she went slightly high were soft free's. Mon only got the one back from being held off the ball and that was happening all game.

We simply need a tough off season , we started the footy season like a carnival atmosphere, zero intensity and our skill under pressure was appalling for this level. Clearly we’ve stepped up our training standards and it’s showing on game day. A bit of a clean out is required, Tess lavey who never plays should be a goner and a few others need to follow

Hopefully we have our own VFLW team or a presence at least and we ramp up and have a preseason like no other, has to brutal.

At a minimum it's 2 x players that we have to take in the draft and hopefully we go for more than that predominantly youth. The Comp has evened up a bit this year but how long until the likes of the Lions and Melb, and the newer gun teams like Hawks and Swans come into our sights, another 2-3 years maybe, and that's not bringing North into the conversation, maybe this and even longer that they'll dominate.

"well held by her standards"

her impact made less stellar. that's al that means

the bit about the free kicks against, i double down upon.

no goals. no goal assists. not many bursts. egan as good in that regard

not in our top 3 for mine

despite afl.com listing her as "best".

that's all it means. literally what it says, it means

no don't agree. poor tackling technique

she shouldn't be doing that tackling but do it well. or really make it sting

Think you have just absolutely re-enforced my point about her being judged way to harshly.

Sometimes its just better to enjoy what she brings each week and not what she hasn't done or not done correctly.
