"no goals. no goal assists. not many bursts"

Think you have just absolutely re-enforced my point about her being judged way to harshly.

Sometimes its just better to enjoy what she brings each week and not what she hasn't done or not done correctly.
you do that

i critiqued each player

that was my critique

she'll survive it

you might, even

"well held by her standards"

her impact made less stellar. that's al that means

the bit about the free kicks against, i double down upon.

no goals. no goal assists. not many bursts. egan as good in that regard

not in our top 3 for mine

despite afl.com listing her as "best".

that's all it means. literally what it says, it means
not in our top 3 for mine

quoted myself, now i will like my post

then i will ick my post

i presume an illegal tackle gets counted as a tackle?
you know the old saying you assume something you ... especially with tackle and free's stats usually not broken down in basic stats, only club would know this.

I do know that Mon has stats in the lower numbers for frees against, 1.5 per game while having high tackle stats, ranked 9th highest in the comp, but yesterday 4 tackles = less than average, 4 frees against = above average, so not an average Mon game.

Technique issues hasn’t been enough of an offending issue for the umps on Mon in the past, having said that I do believe Mon and the others could be better at tackling with a greater focus on tackling techniques. Maybe when the women become full time professionals it will be at a level of the mens.

Had we played swans, ess and saints in this form , reckon we’d win 2 of

I reckon the season would have looked vastly different to what it does now.

Will probably never know reasons but we weren’t ready R1

First quarter was very convincing I thought. Absolutely dominated. Pies lifted, we went into our shells a bit and it ended up a bit of a scrap but I was mostly happy they fought out a win. Sometimes winning whatever way you can is more important than the way you win and sitting 1-9 is one of those times.

I admit I got the Hosko call wrong. Thought she was great even without the mark of the year contender. Made the team stand taller. I knew she was tough as nails but I thought her impact was diminishing. What we don't think about are the mental demons lurking in her head after a pretty horrendous injury run. Probably needed a few games to get over that.
Haven't we had quite a lot of good first quarters?!

Winning is never the problem.

The older we get, the longer the time to bounce back to close to our best - there is something in that for all of us!

Woulda, coulda! ;)

She'll finish high up in our club best and fairest. Does what the coaches ask of her, does the role they ask, is that bigger body presence at stoppage.
Just a pity what she does with the ball, more often than not! Needs to lean to shepherd ;)

Would be nice. Her disposal has noticeably dropped off with the increased pressure on the ball carrier the last two seasons. You really want to see the ball in someone else's hands who can hit up targets, Mon, Ellie, Dallaway, Grieves, Hosking. Back when Grace was at her peak with Carton, her DE% was 63% - 68%. Now it's 49%.

No, has to be a legal tackle that stops the play meaning if the player being tackled breaks loose or gets a disposal away it doesn't count as a tackle. At half time in the saints game Hosking had given away 5 frees from poor tackles but had 0 tackles to her name because of that.

Thought Bonnici might have been in a spot of bother....

Can decide for yourselves but I thought if you leave the ground and hit high you were pretty much hit with a sanction. Thereafter it was up to appeals etc.

It's Brayden Maynard Ko'ing Angus Brayshaw all over again.

Careless, high and severe given a 3 match suspension, overturned at tribunal, their reasoning was that he didn't have another option from memory. But also from memory AFL said that rule would be changed at season end. That was in 2023.

But Bonnici wasn't even given a sanction. If Pies appeal and are successful then good luck to them and Brit.

But to not even get to that point is a joke given Cox was hit in the head, given all the carry on about protecting the head, concussions, etc.

What do you know the rule was changed in 2024.

" PLAYERS will have a greater duty of care to avoid high contact when attempting to smother opponents after an AFL rule change was confirmed on Tuesday, although a mid-season trade period won't be introduced this year".

"The change to the rules regarding smothers comes after the fallout to Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard's controversial Tribunal case during the 2023 finals".

"However, as flagged by AFL.com.au in December, the AFL has acted after a Commission meeting on Monday, with the change for smothers meaning that when a player leaves the ground in an attempt to make a smother, the player's act will be deemed careless at a minimum "unless the player has taken all reasonable steps to avoid that high contact and/or minimise the force of that high contact (for example, by adopting a body position that minimises the force of the high contact)".

"We weren't comfortable with the outcome of the tribunal and the changes today are taking steps to change that," AFL football boss Laura Kane said after the changes were announced on Tuesday".

Hopefully the club will be raising with Kane as we have a duty of care to do so now.

Who?

I thought Kane was just an AI character created by the AFL and when the game was up they appointed Geoff Walsh.

I thought this as I have not seen Laura Kane since Walsh came onto the scene in March.

Simple didn’t train hard enough, started season like we were ready for Coachella not R1
Didn't train smart enough either - we played some really dumb football in that first month or so
