The exposed evidence is that we continually lose the same way, we continually see the same attitude at selection, we continually lose to the same teams (we've literally still only beaten the teams we beat last year), and we have a coach has been at the helm for 6 years for a 35% winning record.

I think we can make some assumptions, as the evidence is rather exposed.
In terms of matches, we lost the away Showdown last year, but not this year, so that's actually an improvement. ;)

How do we actually improve from here? Same old players fail in big games over and over.
Only way we improve is change the coach.

We all know it.

The problem with Nicks philosophy is it leads to situations like this. He continually holds onto guys playing poorly because he has a set 22 he wants to roll with all year and then suddenly out of form players start piling up and if he had of been rotating throughout the year where required we wouldn't be in a situation where you can point to 4-5 guys and say "They're not currently up to it".
I agree with this. Rather that having a squad mentality, he rewards mediocrity way way too often over his tenure. The result, we have so many young unknown quantities on our list. Are they any good? We don't know because of our complete lack of ability to continually blood young players. Nick's also doesn't like to throw the magnets around (unlike McCrae who is a fine game day coach).

I'm not talking about discontent. I'm talking about mindset. He doesn't trust the players. He plays a conservative game. Every time we start kicking big scores he actively corrects it.

That's reflected in selection and game day tactics. And it contributes to the mindset of the players he coaches.
He said as much last year when he was asked about bringing on Curtin with 7minutes left at GMHBA.
Wouldn’t have given Curtin any confidence whatsoever in himself, by saying he didn’t want to bring him on with the game in the balance.

How? You said it was coachable. If it's coachable you can write down how.
Knock yourself out - there is so much out there that saying goal kicking isnt coachable is a laugh

"Goal kicking whisperer" is a metaphorical term that refers to someone who is exceptionally skilled and successful at scoring goals, particularly in a sport like soccer or rugby. It implies a natural talent for finding the net and converting opportunities into points, often with a sense of ease and precision.

The term suggests a player who has mastered the technical aspects of goal kicking and possesses a strong mental game, allowing them to consistently perform under pressure. It can also be used to describe a coach or mentor who helps athletes develop their goal-kicking abilities.

Here's a breakdown of what the term suggests:

  • Expertise:
A goal kicking whisperer is a highly skilled player who can reliably score goals.
  • Intuition:
They have a natural ability to understand the nuances of goal kicking and make the right decisions in the moment.
  • Confidence:
They approach goal kicking with a calm and focused mindset, knowing that they have the skills to succeed.
  • Impact:
They have a significant impact on their team's performance by consistently scoring goals and turning chances into points.

So Crouch this year averaged 65.7% ToG. Prior to Crouch being out Peatling averaged 82.1%, the last 3 weeks it's down to 70.6% (and at 65% today). Have we gone as simple as just swapping Crouch for Peatling in our planned rotations and not at all accommodating Peatling's ability to play other positions which Crouch can't do?

I'm a Berry fan. Tried to get Berrliever trending after the winning goal vs Carlton last year.

However... if he's not getting full games when Matt Crouch is out injured, when is he? He's obviously not in our plans. Draper isn't in at the moment either and even our selectors surely project Draper ahead of Berry long term.

So what's the point?

By all reports Nicks is a popular coach.
With respect to you (not Nicks),
I'd much prefer him to be respected for his toughness and ruthlessness, his HATE for losing, his relentless drive to improve as a Coach for the team, than be "popular".

He is not their mate/buddy/friend.
He's their Coach.
They can all be great mates after he's done.

FIRST priority: instill mental toughness and skill execution under pressure into a winning culture.

"We pick the best team to win this week"

You can probably guarantee the only though that goes into Berry as sub is "He did well at it last week..."

One thing I remember Walsh saying when he started was along the lines of "We can be friendly, but we're not friends. It's an employee/employer relationship". Like made it very clear where he stood and he was the boss.

I’d imagine playing midfield more full-time is more taxing than spending some time off a HFF?

This entire time you have conflated big game players with a variety of other things. Neither Brisbane nor Collingwood have 23 big game players.

You said being a big moment player is uncoachable. I suggested that being a big moment player is coachable. You said some players have just have "it" and some don't. I cited some examples refuting this.

I'm not conflating. I'm directly responding to what you said.

When your best player kicks 2 set shots OOTF from 40m, doesn't matter what the coach does.
Can you see us consistently beating the better teams through strategy?
