Ellie out with knee soreness!

Probably from spending too much time praying for divine intervention for Ferg to give Aoibhin her debut game this weekend.

Richmond has made two changes for its trip to Fremantle.

Richmond's team for Saturday's clash with Fremantle has been confirmed, with two changes made from the line-up that defeated Collingwood last weekend.

In exciting news, Irish recruit Aoibhin Cleary will make her AFLW debut after an impressive string of performances in scrimmages and training. Read more about Cleary's debut here.

Joining Cleary as an inclusion is winger Maddie Shevlin, with the duo replacing Ellie McKenzie, who will miss through knee soreness, and Montana Beruldsen, who is out for the season with a calf strain.

Libby Graham, Bec Miller, Katelyn Cox, Beth Lynch and Sarah Hosking have been named in defence.

Kate Dempsey and Shevlin take up the wings, with Isabel Bacon through the centre. Poppy Kelly will ruck to Monique Conti and Grace Egan.

Up forward, Mackenzie Ford, Katie Brennan, Emelia Yassir, Caitlin Greiser and Laura McClelland have all been selected.

Ally Dallaway, Paige Scott, Sierra Grieves, Charli Wicksteed and Cleary are on the interchange.

The emergencies are Lauren Brazzale, Shelby Knoll and Lulu Beatty.

The Tigers and Dockers meet at 5:05pm on Saturday.
With perhaps the only exception being Brennan, I think I'd rather the Interchange bench on the ground than the forward line - just saying......

I'm wanting to see two things for Saturday. firstly that Aoibhin runs out and struts her stuff and we see her enjoying it and showing off her skillsets with no expectations just like any first gamer.

And two, want to see the commentators not stumble over the pronunciation of Aoibhin's name every time she gets it.

Yep, its pretty much a free hit for her. There is always pressure but already contracted for next year, only two games to go until our season ends and nothing being on the line for us in this game means Aoibhin can play with a freedom that you don't often get.

Anything to to with knees in AFLW sends a shudder through everyone.

She won't like it but maybe best to put Ellie on ice until 2026.

Fremantle v Richmond at Fremantle Oval, 2.05pm AWST

Last time they met:
Fremantle 5.7 (37) def. Richmond 4.6 (30), round five 2023

After a more than shaky start to the season, Fremantle has strung together a couple of really gritty wins, adding a shine to what could have been a really poor year, and proving the pure workrate of the playing group. As a super contested team, that relies heavily on contested possession and tackles, the Dockers are content to turn things into a physical slog, and this isn't necessarily something Richmond has proven it can withstand for long periods of time. The Tigers love to force error from the opposition via ground-level pressure, but the Dockers thrive in those conditions.

Richmond has gotten itself into trouble this year with its attempts to move the ball from defence, with poor ball use and disorganisation creating opportunities for opposition teams to score. Fremantle will work hard to exploit this, playing a territory game and giving the forward line repeat looks on goal. At the other end of the ground, Katie Brennan has finally hit a neat patch of form for the Tigers, but she will need good supply to continue her goalkicking ways.

Tip: The Dockers will make it three in a row. Fremantle by 17 points.

No mention of us missing Ellie. I think it's going to be harder to win this one without her.

It's probably not going to be the contested game that decides this one, it is Freo's 1 wood, and the nearer we get to halving contest the better, but without Ellie as our No. 2 in metres gained, clearances, disposals, and our leading marking player, I see our biggest problem tomorrow night will be our ability to counter attack and get enough looks inside 50.

BTW not every game have we had poor ball use, esp. lately as our win against Crows demonstrated. I get that comment but to me she's missed the importance of just how much losing Ellie out of our midfield is going to affect our offensive game.

Bit like the first four rounds for the rest of the team then?

100%, with the women's risk factor running at 10 times the men!

Yeah but nah, lightning doesn't strike twice.
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

"While the popular saying suggests lightning never strikes the same place twice, this is false, and structures like the Empire State Building are struck frequently. Humans have also been struck multiple times, such as Roy Sullivan, who was struck seven times, or Danny Devine, who was struck twice."

I'll bet TigermanM2 only gets struck once every 12 times it's around him.......;)
